Just finished Jason Aaron's last volume of Punisher Max and it was great. Since it has been out for almost 2 years I won't bother with a spoiler tag.
The Max version of The Punisher comes to it's natural conclusion with Frank's death as a broken down old man after an epic final battle with the Kingpin.
With the Max title taking place on a realistic time line and having Frank age in real time it was the only logical end. Their would no way he could last forever and the only way he would stop would be death.
With Vietnam finally being retconned out of The Punisher's history in the main Marvel universe after years of it being a important part of his origin I read someone else online compare Aaron's run being to The Punisher what What Ever Happened to the Man Of Tomorrow is to pre crisis Superman.
I think that's an apt comparison.

I've really been enjoying Uncanny Avengers for just how over-the-top Red Skull ripping out Charles Xavier's brain is, and they took it way past sanity this month. with that last page. {Spoiler}The story ends with a Three Months From Now tag, where Red Skull has become Onslaught So unexpected and wacky, can't wait to see it unfold. I thought that was pretty awesome. Looked awful, but the surprise was awesome

Journey into Mystery had one of the best single pages in history. Lots of beast from the 9 Realms that had been imprisoned were set free and Sif is out to hunt them down. We see monsters popping up all over and heroes rising to fight them. Then we get to Japan. {Spoiler}A giant monster pops out of the ground and no one blinks, they go about there day while the monster looks on completely confused

The absolute insanity of Uncanny Avengers is one of the reasons I keep coming back to it.

I've only read 2 issues of "Wrath of the first Lantern" and Volthoom has already reached prick status after what he did to Kyle.

did he kill another one of Kyle's girlfriends? Or resurrect Alex DeWitt and then kill her again and stuff her in another fridge? and this time the fridge was made out of the bodies of his mother, Jade and Donna Troy.

{Spoiler}He showed Kyle different "What If" timelines and one of them was "What if Kyle turned down the ring" and it meant Alex was alive and they would live happilly.
Anyway at the end after showing him multiple timelines he sid "You can choose any of the timelines I've shown you to live in" and Kyle chose the Alex one. But Volthoom only said that to raise Kyle hopes up and crush them so he can feed off his dispair The c***

Over at Newsarama, details of the upcoming LARFLEEZE series arise: it is a new ongoing book, his back ups stops appearing in THRESHOLD with #5, and Giffen's co-writing with JUSTICE LEAGUE and BOOSTER GOLD partner J.M. DeMatteis. #1's cover by Howard Porter (who's work hasn't been excellent since his JLA days) is bloody wonderful, too... ![](http://i.newsarama.com/images/LARF_Cv1_300_02.jpg)

I really don't like how they draw Larfleeze these days. His initial appearance and up to Brightest Day was perfect.
He looks like an angry dog now.

On paper, those two writing this character sounds good. In reality, it'll be lame 80s humour that'll get old fast

Oh, I forgot to mention last week, I really disliked Loeb's Nova.
On the plus side, this week, I really liked Bendis' take on Star Lord's origins and, as ever, blew a load over how great Gillen's Young Avengers was

Does anyone else wish Marvel would go monthly with their titles? It's really hard to keep up (financially) with all the titles I want to read when most of them ship twice a month.
Also, I picked up Avengers Arena 1-4 this week. I liked the premise and the book. Sue me.
And I'm super-excited for Hickman's East of West coming to Image.
Finally, I hope Age of Ultron doesn't suck.

I think Marvel needs to slow down the releases a bit. this kind of thing is only going to make people drop books they'd otherwise keep up with because there's no way they can buy so many.

Glad I'm not the only one finding it impossible to get all the Marvel titles they want. I don't know why they don't go to monthly releases like DC, but I guess they figure to make more money this way or they wouldn't do it.

I guess it worked well for Spider-man and Wolvie and the X so they decided to get all so called "marquee" titles in on it.
