One of my favorite Jim Cornette shoot interview moments was him talking about these kind of tag teams, specifically their revolutionary music videos (with them riding horses shirtless) and showing them to OVW students only to realize (in his words) "they're gay as s*** now!"

Reminds me of this old picture of Hogan and Beefcake
It may seem strange to us now, but that was obviously just the look that completely heterosexual men went for at that time. Just imagine all the tail that Thunderlips and The Booty Man must have got after they'd put in a long hard session together at the gym...
Well we all watch a form of entertainment that involves oiled up muscle men in underwear touching one another for a brutal show of dominanace resulting in one man mounting the other and the prone man being at the mercy of the muscle bound beast atop of him.

I've recently gotten to know a guy that used to work behind the scenes on Memphis studio wrestling in the 80's. I specifically asked him about the homosexual overtones of the Fabulous Ones videos. He said he didn't work on any of those, but when he saw the videos even back then he thought they came off as gay. He said that he remembered every once in a while someone would yell gay slurs at them at the Coliseum, but some of the redneckist-rednecks sitting in the front row would stand up and defend them by threatening anyone that would yell slurs at The Fabs since they were the good guys.
