Looking back on Lita, I can't help but look back at her white hot stretch from when she joined up with the Hardys in 2000 up until her neck injury in the spring of 2002.
Just how big was she at that time?
Why was she so over (i.e. why did she appeal to so many fans)?

I remember at Lita's best, she was a BIG reason why the Hardys got as over as they did. Yeah the high-flying was a major part too, but I think everyone connected with Lita in some way.

I think it was because it's somewhat unusual to see a female high flyer. And her tomboy look appealed to the young girls in the audience (her affiliation with the Hardyz probably helped too).

Everyone had reason to like her.
She was a role model to the young girls for being sexy but also tough, unique and interesting.
And the guys loved her for the special feelings she gave 'em in their happy parts. Plus, girl could WORK.
It was win/win.

SImply put.She was unique. This. She wasn't pretty in the conventional sense but she could be sexy back then (before the Rated R era). Plus she was more believable person that you could see knowing in everyday life than a Trish or Sable

I hated her theme music, therefore I hated Lita..I did like her pictorials though, but for someone who constantly is wearing a thong it's hard to find pictures of her from behind in one.

She had the flaming red hair, the tomboy appeal, the friendship with the Hardys and the ever-present T-back. So, yeah, she wasn't your "typical" Diva.
(I wasn't much of a Lita fan until years later; Trish was my Diva of choice.)

That is one of the big ironies of Lita, he character always wore a thong yet there are very few full on backside shots of her just wearing a thong

She was just effortlessly cool, and someone that you could genuinely connect with. Plus she could really wrestle.

Good to see Lita getting some love here. I sometimes think that people forget just how crazy over she was

I loved Lita from 2000 to 2002, and hated her from 2003 on. The dwindling skills post-injury, the terrible acting and the wretched entrance theme were major turn-offs.
But in her earlier years, Lita was quite possibly the WWF's best female worker. She had good matches with everyone from Trish Stratus to Dean Malenko to Stephanie McMahon. And, of course, she had a way of connecting with the average fan (male and female alike) that you just don't see everyday.

No other woman in the WWF did top rope stuff like her when she debuted. That alone helped her get over.
And yet, poor Esse Rios. The Hardys were a better fit, but still.
