I thought it'd be interesting to see the different results.
These are just the consoles I had for a long amount of time, by the way.
MegaDrive: Lasted all the way up until I finally sold it.
PS1: Had the same one up until the PS2 came out and I sold it. I had to turn it on its side by the end for it to work, though.
Dreamcast: Dies a lot, but luckily its easy to fix.
PS2: Died two or three times.
PS3: Still got the same one I bought in 2007, even after dropping water on it.

I've had my N64 for almost twelve years now and it still works. PS2 for nine and still kicking. My SNES lasted about eight years and probably still works. But when my family moved, my dad accidentally damaged the power cord for it and I never got a new one.

My original NES and Gameboy are still going as is my Dad's Atari 2600 (last time I checked). Actually so far only my first PS2 has died.

NES bought in 1987... came up missing/was stolen in 2000, and still worked at the time. Sega Genesis bought in 1992... traded in for an SNES in 1996. (Purchased another 5 or 6 years ago) SNES received in 1996... still hooked up to my TV, and works to this day. Sony Playstation bought in 1997... spindle broke on it in 2006, it however still works. Nintendo 64 bought in 2000... still works. Sega Dreamcast bought in 2000... still works. Sony Plastation 2 bought in 2001... ceases to read disks a year later. (Two more have been purchased since, with each having no more than a 2 year life span.) XBox bought in 2003... still works. Wii bought in 2008... still works. Xbox 360 bought in 2009... still works. Playstation 3 bought in 2009... still works.

My PS2 finally gave up the ghost last year and stopped reading discs. It still turns on... but without that ability, it's kinda useless. Honestly, it probably would still work if I hadn't mutilated it in a half-ass attempt to mod it a few years ago.... got everything taken apart and then I realized I had the wrong kit... so yeah....
Aside from that, all my systems except my NES and Atari's worked until the day I sold them. Only systems I have now are PS3, 360, Wii, RetroDuo and a Genesis I just got from Ebay about a year ago.
Had a 3DS for a few months last year but the damn thing disappeared so... yeah, I assume it still works wherever it went.

Genesis - Still alive and kicking, 20 years later. PS1 - Got it Xmas 1996 I believe. Died during a thunderstorm. No plug in a surge meant FRIED to a crisp. That was in late 2000-early 2001. PS2 - Got it around the middle of 2001. Just died of natural causes really around the middle of 2007. We used the hell out of it and it just bit the dust. Currently have a spare though that my parents's friend gave to me. PS3 - My fat PS2 backwards one YLOD'd on me in November '11 after getting it for Xmas '07. Simple as that, really. Currently have the Slim V1 model from Xmas '11.

Intellvision II: Still works, though is an incredible hassle to hook up to HDtvs. (30+)
NES: Quit working after a few years. Too young to remember why. (N/A)
NES Top Loader: Still works perfectly well, though like the Intellivision, though less severe, the lack of even "old modern" inputs makes it a pain to hook up to HDtvs. (20 years this year)
Gameboy: Still works. My dumbass friend knocked the front panel off recently. But that thing has dropped and dinged so much over the years, and it works like a charm. (24+)
Sega Genesis (Model 2): Still works as of last year. Currently used only for display. (20 years next year)
Super Nintendo: Works great, and mine's still gray/purple and not some weird off-color yellow! (23+)
Sega Saturn: No idea, I sold mine to get...(N/A)
PlayStation: Still works to my knowledge, but I don't have room to display it. First model, not the PSone or whatever came later. (18+)
Nintendo 64: I sold my original with atomic purple controllers to get a PS2. Only had it for roughly a year. Several years ago I got a translucent blue one (2000 - "Ice" model) that looks awesome on my shelf. I busted it out for a round of 4-player Mario Party earlier this year, and it still works...so for me, it's about 5-years now, but technically, it's (13+)
PlayStation 2: I have a launch model that not only still works, but it still plays DVDs as well. I'm probably one of maybe a 1,000 people who can say that, haha. (13+)
Gameboy Advance: My first 'polar ice' one got stolen out of my locker in middle school. I replaced it with a blue one that still works. Both launch models. (12+)
Gamecube: Black launch model, got it at Sam's Club with Luigi's Mansion packed in. Still works. (12+)
Nintendo DS: Still works. Still hinged, too - I know many folks had problems with that. (9+)
Wii: Midnight launch model, still works. (7+)
PlayStation 3: 2006 launch model, still works, backwards compatible with PS2 and PS1, so it's the only PS I still use as well as display. (7+)
Nintendo 3DS: Technically it still works, but my right trigger barely functions anymore thanks to Mario Kart 7. It totally ruins that game for competitive play. Otherwise, it still functions. (2+)
Wii U: I hope to God it still works! (0+)

(24+) Don't blame your friend it happens to them all eventually, mine glued right back on (assuming you mean the plastic over the screen).

Eh, he's broken enough stuff of mine over the years, so I'll still blame him (lol). Yeah, it's no biggie - I guess over time it just isn't as secure as it once was.

I have a "Day 1" Super Nintendo that still works
I had a "Day 1" PSX that died in 2010
I also own a "Day 1" PS2 that died in 2010 but I still have it.
The NES I have isn't my first one, but it is old enough to play imports with an adapter.
Most of my pre-NES stuff is recent purchases - I have a working Odyssey2, a working Atari 5200 (and a working controller!) a working Atari 2600, and a working atari 7800.

Note: The systems in bold are or were broken. Bold and italicized means it works but has issues.
Atari 2600: Bought used at a flea market around 1990. It still worked last time I checked it about 10 years ago. I think it's from 1982-83.
NES: Had it since 1989. It still works but it resets itself randomly during some games like Mike Tyson's Punch Out.
SNES. I got it in early 1992 and it still works like new.
Gameboy: Got it in mid-1992, still worked as of a few years ago.
Genesis: Got it in 1993, and it still works fine.
Game Gear: Still works fine.
Sega CD: Probably works, but I haven't tried it in years.
Sega 32X: Flooded in Hurricane Katrina in 2005 along with 70% of my Genesis/Sega CD games. So I threw it away.
N64. Works fine, had it since 1997.
PS1: Got it in 2000, the memory card slot stopped reading memory cards after about 2 years. Now the controller port is broken too. It's the PSOne slim model.
Dreamcast: Bought it in 2001. Works fine for most games, but with some titles such as Capcom games like "Marvel Vs. Capcom" it goes back to the clock setting and won't boot up. But I bought it used on eBay and it's always been like that.
Gameboy Advance: Still works. Bought it at launch.
*Gamecube: Bought one at launch in 2001, it died shortly after the release of Resident Evil remake around April of 2002 (it had "Disc Read Errors"). *I got a replacement and it still works fine.
PS2 still works but makes a popping sound sometimes, I've had it since 2002.
PS3: Got it in late 2007 and it got the YLOD and stopped working in April of 2012. *Now I have the super-slim PS3 model, which I just bought last month.
Wii: Got it in 2009, still works fine.

PS2 - My fourth PS2 since my first broke down after 3 years, bought a second and third and both stopped working (thus i stopped buying consoles off ebay!) and have had my 4th since 2009.
PS3 - I have two of them, first bought in 2009 and second in 2010, both still working fine.
Xbox360 - bought in 2006, the dreaded red ring of death wrecked it 2 times before finishing it off completley, have had a second once for 2 years working perfectly.
Dreamcast - On my second dreamcast, the first died in 2008 after years of great service. Had this one since then.
Original Xbox - Bought in 2001 (or whenever it was first released) still works perfect to this day!

Most of my older consoles were purchased second-hand, years after they stopped making games for them.
That being said, the only consoles I've had die on me are two original PlayStations, my fat PS2, and a toaster NES.
Even then, the PS2 and NES still work at times, and the PlayStations worked before I got rid of them, but they were still pretty much broken.

They'd all still work if I decided to play on them.

I still have every console I ever owned in working condition, except for my Sega Mega Drive, but that was because my Sister took it to a friends house and I never saw it again.

Had PS2 for at least a decade and it's still working.
Same goes for the Gamecube.
