Jim Halpert was also in the running for Captain America before Evans got the part.
Also, my money's on Dave the Douche-troyer. ;D

James Marsden was mentioned not long ago as in the running for Star-Lord.

Zachary Levi is somehow in running for Star Lord, despite playing Fandral now within the same continuity.

Wasn't the rumor making the rounds that the movie's actually going to be centered on Nova?
Anyway, yeah. Batista might make me a bit interested if he gets in, but this and Black Panther are both likely going to be the first of the Avengers-related movies I skip.

I more interested in who is going to play Rocket Raccoon. They'll probably go for a known voice actor. From what I've heard RR and Groot have been toned back a lot form the GotG comics, so they probably won't go for a big name star to voice a secondary part of the team. Wasn't the rumor making the rounds that the movie's actually going to be centered on Nova? Nope. Nova's never been mentioned, and in the comics they've replaced the late Rich Rider with a kid donning the Nova costume. Star-Lord has always been the main character of this one.

This a new comic for me. Though I don't know much about comics in the first place. I like the idea of the team of heroes bonded together to fight impending evil. Let's see who we have. Ooh, Giant Tree Man, Sword-fighting Lady, Weird Green Guy, Gas Mask Man, and a...raccoon. Well, I'll still probably enjoy it despite having such limited knowledge about the source material. These types of movies are usually fun for me.

So, I take it the human pilot that's at the core of this film is Star-Lord and not Carol Danvers?

Every time a new Marvel film comes out there's always these casting rumors and more times than not, the final choice is never one that was rumored.

These types of movies are usually fun for me. This modern version of the Guardians is itself a complete revamp of the original version (alien superheroes from the year 3000) - a teaming of various established cosmic characters, originally teamed together suddenly to fight Ultron in space. That's really it. Each character has their own story, sure, but not as much as other major characters to be honest. So you don't really mind and as a result the story at hand is much more enjoyable.

Honestly, I'm practically sold just because of the picture they used. All those characters look like a blast and the artist rendering of them seems like it could translate well into movie form. Probably even the raccoon.

I'd go with the other Old Spice guy, Terry Crews. Then again with me, I'd put Terry Crews in any role in any movie. The shark from jaws, Bilbo in the Hobbit, Cleopatra in Cleopatra etc. Terry Crews + Any Movie (no matter how bad) = watchable.

Vin Diesel is pretty much all I can ever see when I see Drax.
Personally I'd look be wanting to look at someone like Jensen Ackles for Quill. Decent voice, decent presence, female appeal but not at a level where males will hate on him for it, geek appeal and the right look for being an astronaught and lost in space.....rather than just being an actual geeky looking guy whose got lost in space......

Probably even the raccoon. Which is amazing. SO much in comics - classic stuff everyone knows - just doesn't translate well into real life. Yet somehow a giant tree and a sci-fi-themed raccoon do. ;D Took long enough, God. Well done.

I kinda hope they have child-like-intellect Drax instead of SUPRSRS-MUST-KILL-THANOS Drax.

I have no idea why so many people are down on those two. If kids catch on to them they may become 2 of the most popular comic characters ever.
