How would you book it? Like if the company was able to latch onto a new venture that could serve as it's main promotion like NWATNA and NWA Hollywood used to be.
I just hastily made this card in EWR. I tried to make it at least fairly realistic. I posted it below. I should also mentioned that though there are actually NWA Tag Champs for the purposes of this idea I had them vacated prior to the show. Other than that I have kept all the current champs. What do you think?
The first show is a PPV event named Rebirth. The Pre-Show features an interview with Raven who will be challenging Kahagas in the main event for the NWA World Championship.
The opener is a the first match in a four team one night tournament. The Young Bucks are taking on 3.0 and just squeak out with the win after Nick Jackson pins Shane Matthews.
The second match is a title match featuring El Generico and reigning NWA Junior Heavyweight Champ Chase Owens. Generico gets the win.
Up next is the second match in the one night tournament. The Briscoe Brothers defeat Player Uno and Player Dos.
There is then a four way elimination match for the vacant NWA National Title. David Hart Smith wins the match after last eliminating John Morrison in match also featuring Low Ki and Vampiro
Portia Perez wins the NWA Women's Championship from Kacee Carlise up next.
Kevin Steen then destroys Tommy Dreamer in a wild brawl that goes all over the arena.
In a lengthy and hard fought match the Young Bucks defeat the Briscoes for the NWA World Tag Team Championship.
Raven outsmarts Kahagas in the main event and manages to get the win while working as a face against the heel Kahagas. As soon as the match is over Kevin Steen comes out and starts beating up both tired competitors. Just as he is about to cave in Raven's skull with a chair shot...a battered Tommy Dreamer makes the save and blindslides Steen. Steen gets up and is being held off by other wrestlers just as Raven is coming to. The night ends with Tommy Dreamer giving Raven the belt and the two longtime rivals looks like they could break out into fighting. Their attention then changes simultaneously to look at Steen who is barely being contained and screaming his head off.

I dunno about the whole show, but I would try and get a fairly big name on the indies right now to fight Kahagas to give his reign legitimacy. Somebody like a Masada, Sami Callihan, Chuck Taylor, Johnny Gargano ect. Somebody that will get fans pumped

If the NWA had a relaunch show, the PPV would stop broadcasting halfway through due to participants withdrawing from it. And the titles would be declared vacant at least six times during the course of the show for various reasons.

They actually are doing a show similar to this in April, Not for PPV though but local TV.
It's kind of a sad card. All the World Champions are going to be there (Except Chase Owens) and NWA loyalists are expecting 1000-1500 fans.
The reality of the situation is Kahagas on top unless he's wrestling a "name" guy (Former WWE at the very least) the card won't draw
Heres the information about the NWA Super Show, Tell me if it seems "Super" to you:
A big event is brewing in Houston!!!
On April 20, 2012 NWA Houston and Walker Texas Lawyer will present a huge event at the Houston Athletic Fencing Center. Many major NWA Wrestling titles will be represented and defended at this event.
The following will be there...provided they are still champions on April 20: NWA World Heavyweight Champion TokyoMonster Kahagas, NWA North American Heavyweight Champion Houston Carson, NWA World Tag Team Champions "Kingz of the Underground" Scot Summers and Ryan Genesis, NWA World Women's Champion Kacee Carlisle, NWA Lone Star Heavyweight Champion Jax Dane.... and many more.
More to be announced soon!

Without a top indy guy or an ex WWE guy holding the title the NWA is pretty much DOA.

I know it would never happen, but doesn't Shelton Benjamin live in the area? IIRC he also isn't signed to an exclusive contract for anyone and hypothetically could work the show. As much as some love to bask in the recent failures of the NWA I'm just a history mark and want the NWA to do good. It's a shame though because with their current management it looks like there is NO WAY that is going to happen any time soon.

The top indy guys have to be in it. Colt Cabana for me is the obvious choice for Champion, simply based on his popularity. We need the best and most well known, he's the most well known unsigned talent right now. All the main titles to be used for this promotion are switched instantly to bigger names. El Generico, Kevin Steen, Tommy Dreamer, Low Ki, Johnny Gargano, The Young Bucks, the list goes on and on of the talent roster one could have at their disposal if they wanted to use them. If they wanted a major hub, basically they would need to get rid of the idea of the NWA being apart of different promotions and put all their resources into one big promotion. The talent is out there.

I actually think the territory system still could work but they need champions that people actually want to book.
If I'm a promoter in New Jersey why am I going to book regional indy guy Kahagas and pay hotel/fee when I can simply hire someone that's a bigger name from my local area and have a better shot at drawing?
The idea would be to use guys like Cabana, Corino, Richards and give them World Titles. Davey Richards isn't that expensive he'd make a great World Jr Heavyweight Champion and you have a big shot at him drawing due to the exposure he has.
Cabana is a little more expensive but most smarks listen to his podcast and you may even have a couple who know him from ROH or whatever. Definitely would be a good choice.
The problem is NWA is trying to build stars but theres nobody to build up off of. There biggest star is Lance Hoyt and he's semi active at best.

Does Lance do any NWA work? He's raking up the big money in Japan with an on-fire NJPW. If I was Lance Hoyt, I'd forget about wrestling in the States, at least for the next couple of years.

He works 1 of the territories when he isn't in Japan I believe. I think the promotion is NWA Houston. He probably works like 3-4 cards a year if that so he's probably less than semi regular.

That isn't as much of a problem, IIRC, didn't Kahagas get the title similar to The Sheik's run (where they got it partially because their day job is working for an airline and so they can fly for free?)

Yeah you're correct that's why he got it in the first place. But it still costs money to bring the guy in.if you pay a hundred dollar fee for the guy and 100 dollars to put him in a hotel room that's 200 dollars. You can get a well known indy guy or maybe a guy who had a cup of coffee in the big time for another 50-100 dollars without the hassle of booking a hotel and the NWA controlling how the mtch goes. You're also more likely to draw with one of those guys rather than Kahagas. People booking Kahagas are just marks for the World Title and having it on their card. It isn't a smart business decision unless Kahagas lives close to you.

I don't think Kahgas should lose the belt. Give him some indy names to beat and maybe even unify some small titles with the NWA belt. Try and put him over as a legit threat that can't be beaten.
As for the first PPV in general, book it exactly like Tommy Dreamer's first show.

I love that the NWA has been completely, 100% irrelevant and pointless for almost 25 years and people are still talking about a "revival." Not even just fans, but plenty of people in the business too.
