Bought two of them last night. Delicious stuff, and that's not even me ignoring how the thing looks.
You guys speculate, or stand in awe, at the fearsome Filipino thing called Balut!

Its name sounds like Mowgli's friend.

Just the mere concept of it makes me want to puke. But I have a friend who went to the Phillippines who said it's pretty good though.

Its name sounds like Mowgli's friend. Or a bear pilot (Same name and look, not same character. That's how my mind works it)

Been eating it since I was a kid, and back then I thought it was cool so I don't feel grossed out by it, though it's way easy to see why others would. It does taste great, and the thing I look forward to the most is the juices in the Balut.

Much less apprehensive of eating those than I would be of balut.
Balut, I would eat much sooner than century eggs.

Hmm, surprised we have so many filipinos on the board (I'm half myself).
Never had it, my mom likes it. There was a developmentally challenged boy nicknamed Balut that sold it, so I associate it it with him. Grew up to have a nice family. I'd eat it but I'll eat pretty much anything.
And, as bad as it sounds, I would love to eat those little birds. Chick Adobo would rock or get some hot sauce.

If I'm going to eat an animal,I want it to have at least had the chance to reproduce.

They sell these at the Thai supermarket I go to sometimes. I asked what they were once, when they told me I thought they were joking, which drew laughter from the workers.

An amusing thing that I just remembered. In the 7/11s here, they sell balut along the boiled eggs. It'd be hard to mistake one for the other, since the balut shells are darker in color.
Also, IIRC, the day old chicks are usually dipped in spicy vinegar, like chicaron bituka/bulaklak and isaw. Intestines, and they're pretty damn tasty.
