They turned the lights off, the only people with such power are wrestlers like Undertaker and Kane, William Regal, the current GM and the lighting technicians (that last one would be the worst reveal ever).

As I said in the Raw thread. They don't work for Punk. They just hate Ryback.

I think they are working for The Rock.

They work for the electric company, hence the lights turning off last night.

Unquestionably, and it was Brad Maddox who cut the lights.

I don't think it matters. If they were working for someone they'd probably turn on whoever employed them anyway.

I would love it if they really didn't work for anyone.

Who they work for is all part of a bigger picture.

I think they won't be working for Punk per se. I think they may be inspired by Punk. I think it has something to do with Ryback getting a big push when other younger, more talented guys (in their way of thinking) were being ignored.
It seems to me that they are lashing out at guys that are getting undeserved pushes in their minds. That is the whole injustice thing. That might not be what WWE is going for, but I've seen enough Law and Order and mystery shows to know Punk is the classic misdirection.

I wonder if a couple years from now The Shield will be in one of those "unresolved plotlines" threads we have here from time to time.

I think even Vince knows that would be entirely too transparent.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Vince himself come out in riot gear next month saying he's the Shield's leader.
But, not I think it'll come out in the end that the Shield and Punk aren't connected just so Punk can go on about how he's been persecuted unfairly for months and be a real jackass about it.

I could see him more willing to twist the knife for it... "Rollins and Ambrose (he may get snarky here and throw in their indie names) are my friends, they'd do anything for me, but I never ASKED them to! (he may throw in a snarky comment about how Reigns sucks here, too) They did it on their own, because they know this company sucks without me!"

I think they've muddied the waters a bit too much for them to be working for Punk (e.g. why the hell did they beat up Rey-Cara if they're working for Punk?). it'd definitely be the least interesting option.

Yeah, this is the most likely thing. Heyman's pulling the strings to zealously represent his client while keeping Punk in the dark. Same deal with Maddox.

Working with Heyman but Punk has no knowledge of it

The reason I don't agree with the theory that Heyman has employed them without Punk's knowledge is that the natural course for the angle to then take is Punk being unhappy that Heyman didn't believe he could win by himself, turning on Heyman and becoming a face in the process. Bearing in mind last night's promo, it's hard to see Punk being a face again for a long time, plus the WWE already has an abundance of superfaces (Cena, Orton, Sheamus, Ryback, plus part-time superfaces Rock, Undertaker and Triple H.)

Punk could still be a heel. He finds out that Heyman was secretly helping him with Maddox and the Shield and then arrogantly says none of it matters because he would have won anyway.
