Was a kayfabe explanation ever given on how Bob Orton Jr was able to wrestle with a "broken" arm? Seriously what doctor would clear him to compete? Today it could just be explained by having the evil authority figure forcing the person to continue wrestling or they'll be fired.

I believe the Kayfabe Explanation was that he was quite clearly faking it.

He just wrestled with it. They did have him visit a doctor on TNT but that turned to chaos when he explained Bob was indeed faking it

I believe the Kayfabe Explanation was that he was quite clearly faking it. That's what I remember, too. I don't think anyone ever called him out on how he shouldn't be wrestling.

That's what I mean even if Orton was able to provide a doctor's note that the injury was real so he wouldn't have to remove the cast the WWF still let a man with a broken arm compete and risk more damage. On the flipside, if a doctor examined his arm and found the injury was a fake the WWF still let him compete wearing a cast which the only purpose of was to be used a weapon. Either way the man shouldn't have been in the ring with a cast. I guess Jack "on the take" Tunney was taking bribes to look the other way.

IIRC, it was "broken" in a match with Snuka in The War to Settle The Score (the same card that saw Mr. T get involved in the Hogan/Piper match to set up Wrestlemania I).

I think Bob has said before that it never actually healed until he left the 'E

Had a friend once ask about it when he met him and he seemed like he didn't really wanna talk about it I am thinking for some one who is known for that he shouldn't mind if some one ask him about it.

I recall seeing a clip, probably on the Piper DVD, where some doctor is talking to Orton and Piper, and points out that there is no way that the arm is still broken.

Jim Cornette owns the cast.

He was wearing it on the retro Raw a couple of years back

I wish he would have worn it throughout his time in WWF. I think he was done with it between Wrestling Classic and Wrestlemania 2 as he had it at one PPV and not the next. It was a great gimmick and would have been cool to keep going with it. Would have made it seem even more important. He could have gotten more out of the feuds for himsef with Mr. T Roddy Piper and Don Muraco just by using the cast.

The one he wore on RAW was probably a new cast, because he signed the one he gave Cornette and Jimmy had it in a glass display in his house, as seen on one of his shoot interviews.

Following those matches, the company forced both men to remove their casts

I seem to somewhat remember Gorilla Monsoon or Vince McMahon refer to Paul Orndorff's cast as an "equalizer"; as if they knew he shouldn't really have it, but it's only to even the playing field with Orton.
Cowboy Bob Orton (in hat and cast) helping son Randy in that WrestleMania match against Undertaker was one of the biggest mark-out moments of my life. Too awesome for words.
