I don't buy him as a happy go lucky baby face wanting to wear triple H's blazer.
I don't buy it when he talks about hating the fans.
CM Punk should be exactly as he is right now, except without the cheap heat attacks of "you people are stupid!!111". For one, WWE, let people decide who they want to cheer instead of trying to coerce a controversial yet somewhat sympathetic character into super heeldom.
And for all you who doubt me, just imagine, if in 1997 the Steve Austin spent all his time talking about how much he hated the audience...

I liked him as a face personally.
But I guess that makes me a puppet.

He's not really a tweener in the traditional sense. One portion of the audience hates him and the other still loves him. No middle ground. Similar to Cena.

He has to interact with others, those people have to interact with still more people. That's why that doesn't work

Being a tweener I think is bad news. Very few people can pull it off, and I think the tweener term is over used and overly desired. Sid back in 1996-97 was somewhat of a tweener, but leaning more towards as a babyface. Chyna was a tweener when she was still with heel Triple H, but feuding against Jeff Jarrett. Kane has been tweener a lot in his career. But, it's only best to have one guy on the roster be tweener, and someone who isn't used in a top role.
Good vs evil draws money, so Punk needs to be evil, which I think he's very good at.

Punk's at his best when he's evil, but he's that sort of awful, seductive charming kind of evil, where you know "this isn't a good person", but wind up cheering them on, anyway, almost in spite of yourself.
That effect can make him seem like a potentially great tweener, but I think it works better with him as simply an audience-challenging heel character.

I like him in the spot he's in. He's burned every bridge he has, and he doesn't care. He keeps winning, sitting on his throne mocking the common folk. Don't know where he'll go once he loses the title, but it'll be interesting to watch

I think he's a natural heel. He's never been better than he is right now.

Don't know where he'll go once he loses the title, but it'll be interesting to watch He needs to ratchet it up. Show some of the legitimate hate and disdain he has for people that don't live up to his standards. Start pointing out individual crowd members and tell them to go kill themselves, because they're not fit to breathe his air. As a general observation, he seems to viciously dislike anyone who's not part of his inner circle, and want to make them feel like absolute shit, so play that up to the hilt.

Except I don't know who's in his inner circle anymore, unless Colt or Samoa Joe gets signed, or Kassius Ohno gets called up. EDIT: Except Heyman, obvs.

The guy's a heel.
Period.
Anyone trying to say otherwise is just wrong.
