Anyone else ever do this? I might just be having to do this again depending on whether or not I got a job I just interviewed for. Heck, I've actually been applying to quite a few jobs so I'll probably be doing this sooner than later no matter what. I was wondering which sites, FANs have had the best luck with?
I should also mention that I've tried Craig's List before and I DO NOT want to do that again. I'm looking to rent from a housing office rather than rent from a person directly as I've had one nut job too many as a landlord.
Also, if anyone feels like reading on below is a pretty detailed account of my current quest for housing.
if anyone knows specific areas around the New York/Connecticut border that could help too. Right now ideally I want to get a studio or one bedroom that is in New York state and close to Connecticut. Also, I need parking and definitely do not want to have to pass any tollbooths. The budget I'm looking to spend is about $800 a month. I know there is NO WAY I could get that in NYC since I lived there before, but living a bit outside of the city should give me some options.
I was hoping Brewster, NY, but have yet to find anything in my budget there. I've heard good things about Peeksill, NY, but need to look into it more. Likewise, New Rochelle, NY is kind of promising, but I haven't found anything quite in the price range yet. Lastly, I'd love the Bronx since it is one of the five boroughs and thus part of NYC and they actually have some places around my budget. The darn thing with that is: no parking options. Since a car will be a necessity for any job I get in the area I unfortunately have to rule out the Bronx.
