Well the other day flipping through the radio an old Madoona song came on "Dress You Up", and it was so catchy I keps the station on till it was over. I realised Madonna early work might be very underrated. I find a lot of her other songs like "Lucky Star", "Physical Attraction", "Into the Groove", they are irrestable not to listen if I stumble accross them.
I think those songs are often underrated, because of a lot the later stuff Madonna did both musical and personally sadly over shadows it. When people think of great 80's songs, her songs are right up there, but I don't know if it gets the same love that say "Beat It", "Thriller", "Girls Just Want To Have Fun".
Though a lot of that is Madonna's own doing, though in her defense I don't recall her ever being accused of sexual assulting children, just saying we look past Michael Jackson's explicts, but whatever.
Anyway back on topic, 80's pop music fans, what do you think of Madonna pre "Like A Prayer" music? You think it is underrated, overrated, or rated just right? I tressue her music as much as I would Michael Jackson and Prince's music from their prime , those that know me know that is a high compliment.

When I was in college Iived with a white chick who was 2 years younger than me a the and grew up on madonna the way I did michael jackson and the like from the genres if music I liked. When i was growing I was fortunate to have exposure to music outside of my immediate culture. Hell i've even seen that movie about her that came out in the early 90s. Made her look like whore in my book. Anywho, my female roomate and I broke a lot of levels of understanding because I could relate just to why she liked madonna as far as the music and lifestyle... From the 80's and ealy 90's era
I mainly day that because it's she became a parody of herself as time went by. Like most artist or musical acts.
But I can't deny how catchy how her 80s tunes were. Whether it is a video or on the radio I'll probably still let it finish before I turn the station.

I don 't listen to mainstream radio so I don't know what gets played and what doesn't, but to me, as big as she is, her peak was the mid 80s. Girls were dressing up like her, it was unbelievable. Truly a phenom.

Also a underrated performer in my book. Though I saw her in concert in 2000, I really wish I could have seen her in concert in the 80's. I wish I could go back in time and go see concerts of people like Madonna, Prince, Springtstein in their hey day, though I also saw Prince in 2004 (he had the Time as the surprise opening act), but still it is not the same, you get what I mean.
Curse me for being an infant and toddler in those good old days when a lot of my favorite artists were in their prime. Though a lot of clubs Madonna preformed at in the early days, I would have to bring a girl with me and be my date and protect me from the patrents if you know what I mean. Not that there is anything wrong with it, I am all for them having rights, I am just not on their team.
