John Bush was the right man at the right time for Anthrax as Joey Belladonna was out just as grunge was taking over and the timing was really perfect for them then.

Considering the string of bad luck that happened to them afterwards, I consider it their punishment for movign away from metal and trying to cash in on the alternative craze that was going on.

For my money, Genesis once Phil Collins became their lead vocalist. No way, Collins was pretty good on the first couple post-Gabriel albums but once Hackett left and their sound was dumbed down their was little difference between them and Collins's lightweight solo stuff.

I like AC/DC a lot better with Brian Johnson. I don't dislike Bon Scott; just prefer Brian. I think the songwriting was stronger with Scott but Johnson had the stronger voice.

Craig Mabbitt's ETF beats Ronnie's about as much as Ronnie beats his girlfriend.

Phil Anselmo replacing Terry Glaze in Pantera. Glaze was focused on Glam Rock, and Pantera wanted to move towards a different, heavier sound. Plus, I don't think Pantera would have got big with Glaze doing lead vocals.

Mike Patton taking over from Chuck Mosley (and about 7 other people) in Faith No More, Chuck was alright vocal wise, but Patton had the range that FNM needed to go through all the styles they did.

Alice in Chains sounds about as good with its replacement vocalist (William DuVall) as it did with its old, now deceased vocalist, Layne Staley. There will never be a good replacement for Layne Staley. You just can't replace someone like that. DuVall is pretty good, but when he tries to copy Staley it doesn't work. I think other than a few rough songs on the last album, they've found their new sound and the new album is going to kick ass. On the other hand, it looks MORE like they just hired a new guitarist and let Cantrell do the singing half the time as well. Nothing wrong with that.

Dropkick Murphys improved dramatically after Ken Casey took over as lead vocallist and they went with more of a Pogues inspired punk as opposed to their original hardcore punk style.

So very yes. Patton is literally one of the few vocalists that could have performed their range as well as he did.

Dave Brockie(Oderus Urungus) replacing Joey Slutman as Gwar's lead vocalist. Slutman had a very limited, monotone growl. Dave is very underrated when it comes to his vocals and is actually a very talented and versatile singer. Plus Gwar just would have not gone so far if wasn't for the Oderus cutting so many promos with the charisma that he has. That man is a solid worker and has good work-rate.

I will always say the best singer replacement is Sammy Hagar over Roth. Writing was better, sound was better, songs were better.

Exodus went through three vocalists, Paul Ballof (RIP), Zhetro and their most recent guy Rob "I wore American Flag shorts in Germany" Dukes but out of the three guys Dukes is the best!

Matt Walst of My Darkest Days is replacing Adam Gontier in Three Days Grace. They've released three tracks with him on lead vocals.

No kidding? If that is the case, why does Hetfield sound so different on all of Metallica's post-Kill 'Em All albums? Dave did sing some lead on the "No Life 'til Leather" demos album Nope was always Hetfield on vocals, sure he sounded a lot more squeely and nasally but it was always Hetfield Joey Belladonna replacing Neil Turbin was for the best also im gonna say Zetro replacing Baloff and Dukes replacing Zetro in Exodus because there voices couldnt last much long in both cases,

Talk is that this is only for the upcoming tour, but with My Darkest Days losing their guitarist, and now potentially their vocalist(who is the brother of the bassist in 3DG), it doesn't look or sound good.

This is kinda of what we already talked about in the other thread, but I'll bring up Iced Earth. In fact it's a very good example of a band going on despite changing singers often. Even the most well known vocalist(Matt Barlow) was the third guy to take the position. First thing I thought of. Barlow, in my opinion, is THE best vocalist Iced Earth has had. He had an outstanding range that could get across the emotion and dramatic flair Iced Earth wanted. Ripper Owens (his first replacement) is also very good, and I have high hopes for Stu Block, but to me, Barlow is untouchable. Along similar lines, Roy Khan leaving Kamelot and having his position filled by Tommy Karevik of Seventh Wonder. Khan is an amazing singer and it's hard to imagine Kamelot without him, but Karevik is a great singer in his own right, and I look forward to seeing what he can do.
