One minute he was there, the next he was gone. I remember JR saying to call the Superstar Line for the full story.
Anyone remember?

I've ever heard that Ahmed and Ron Simmons had real heat backstage over the storyline with Ahmed coming off on TV as being the leader of the group and apparently Simmons felt his spot was being threatened.
Really, the WWF probably figured Ahmed's heel turn was a lost cause given his big program with Undertaker got derailed due to his injury (yet again) and they decided just to put Ahmed back in his previous role.

I was lead to believe to the legit heat after Faarooq's debut when he stiffed Johnson on the kidney shots.
Or, it could be because they couldn't understand a word he was saying.

Kayfabe-wise, Ahmed said he was going to destroy the NOD from the inside. (Kinda like what John Cena wanted to do when forced to join the Nexus).
But I figured it just didn't make sense that Ahmed would want to join a group that had just been beating the crap out of him and calling him racist names for months - even with that kayfabe reason in mind.
Faarooq sort of unofficially "won" their feud by winning the gauntlet match at the May IYH, and they really had nothing for Ahmed to do.

The Nation traded up. They got rid of the injury riddled mule for a thoroughbred.

Ahmed was just falling apart at that point - he was constantly either sloppy or getting injured. Being part of a stable could've helped, but when they booted him out I saw it as a symbolic frustration on the WWF's part with his performance.
And it wasn't even that far into 1998 that was gone anyway...

Owen had the street cred. As Dave Chappelle said, you don't want to know what the one white guy in an all black group had to do to earn their respect.

Owen was a cornball brother. I think. Somebody ask Rob Parker...he has plenty of time on his hands these days.

Being the Earth loving environmentalists they were, they couldn't tolerate Ahmed's stance on eating reefs.

When Owen joined The Nation, the Angry Black Miltant aspect of it was gone with The Rock taking charge. Also, they kicked Ahmed out because he kept forgetting to take his medication. He was too unstable for them.
