Which Rock run is your favorite?
11/1996 to 5/1997 generic hated face
8/1997 to 4/2001 NOD heel/ face/ corporate heel/ $800 shirt face/ etc.
7/2001 to 3/2002 annoying face
7/2002 to 8/2002 cup of coffee lose to Brock Lesnar face
1/2003 to 4/2003 Hollywood heel
2003 - 2004 sporadic appearance face that did nothing
2004 - 2011 Rock free WWE
2011 - now fruity pebbles social media pimpin' face

Easily "Hollywood Heel" Rock. Fit him best, IMHO.

In hindsight, I liked "Hollywood Rock" the best... he was absolutely hateable as well as hilarious. Really poked fun at himself a lot, and his mini-feud with The Hurricane was awesome.
However, while it was happening, I just wasn't into it because I knew he wasn't actually back, he was just there until the next movie started shooting... and at the time, I was one of those douchey "he turned his back on us to do movies" fans, so I couldn't really appreciate it.

Everything he did from 1997-2000. 2003 is a runner up, but it was short-lived, and that marked the run where Rock wasn't full time, so it felt a little off to me, like I knew he was going to be gone within a few weeks/months.

Carrying the ball while Austin was injured, November 1999-September 2000.
He was the biggest star in the company during its hottest period.

His Hollywood Rock run was easily his funniest. His best overall run of his career was 97/01 as the guy ascended into one of the greatest if all time in that period while the 03 run was basically him just goofing off for a majority of it (& it was all hilarious)

2000-2001. The Rock was a megastar on the level of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin himself, won the WWF Championship twice, great feuds with Triple H and the McMahon-Helmsley faction, good matches, and easily at his most popular. This was the period where I became a fan.

1997-2001
The Rock is such a natural-born heel. I've always thought he came across waaay too smug to be a face, but it seems that a lot of folks disagree, so it is what it is, I guess.

Survivor Series 1998 - WrestleMania X7. Once he came back for the Invasion, he sucked. Crappy version of his music, goofy Caesar haircut, and just lost in the shuffle. I did enjoy the hell out of his 2003 douchebag gimmick, though.

Hollywood Heel run was legendary. Hasn't been able to match it since.

Since 1998 I've loved the guy. Granted his material these days is a little groan worthy, but I know he still has it.

Rock is really close to my #1 of all time, but I think the overkill use of him at 27 and his subsequent appearances since have stalled that feeling a tad, altho I really enjoyed the build with Cena last year. I waver between him and Austin for #1 depending on whats currently happening.
My favorite run is easily Hollywood Rock. If only for the Toronto promo (which if you've not seen is the definition of heat), but that whole run was just perfect. I also really like his "ugly shirt" face run that started sometime in 99 after Mania 15, which is what catapulted him to being a favorite. Basically the face run that included Rock & Sock/This Is Your Life/HHH feud, etc and I would say ended in early 2002.
In fairness, he's not had a run since thats been going long enough to gain any momentum to match it. I think this currrent run, could, but remains to be seen.

I actually liked him a lot in 2001-02 as the walking tall leader/savior of the WWF in the Alliance and nWo feuds. He had some great matches and cut his fair share of serious and funny promos with out all of the objects being shoved up peoples asses.
