I agree that Paul Bearer would be a great entrant. He was a legendary manager from the Territories to the present day. He is also one of the most recognizable and has been for more than 2 decades. I do think that it would be a great and classy tribute to hi.

The clock thing really pissed me off. I know it was basically because Ric Flair's speech went over an hour but what do you expect from arguably the greatest ever? I was at the HOF during WM25 and they gave The Funks 5 minutes. Seriously? You expect those two guys to do it all in five minutes alone? They're both legends, let them speak, that's what people want to hear. Fans who go to these shows want to hear road stories, give them what they want. Sure, cut it down for the TV edit but put it unedited on the Wrestlemania DVD that year. Steve Austin was the biggest star they've ever had apparently. They gave him 10 minutes for a speech. It's not like they would storm the stage if anyone went a little over their allotted time. Bret Hart covered his career, family, friends and told some great stories about Owen and Vince and he did it in 30 minutes. It didn't feel long or rushed, it was just about right.

I don't mind waiting a year. Toying the idea of next year's class being Paul Bearer, Jake Roberts, Savage, Lita and Ivan Koloff.

As much as I would like to see Bearer in, I'd rather not have it happen right now. Nothing seems less appropriate than honoring someone who was well overdue for something during their lifetime, than to roll them in right after they're dead. I felt very uncomfortable when they did it for Eddie, and since they couldn't (or wouldn't) find the time to put Bearer in there while he was alive, you may as well wait until they also induct the Undertaker.

I think it would be better to put Paul Bearer into the Hall of Fame next year, when they're in New Orleans. Since Moody was a staple of the Gulf Coast, and I'm guessing it's the closest WWE's HoF will ever come to his hometown Mobile, AL. And they've already got several big inductions for this year.

See, in Austin's case.....I'd have enjoyed that happening. Because we all know some stage hand trying to cut him off would end with KICK WHAM STUNNER. I would really laugh if they did that to Bruno this year. After decades of fan awaiting a reunion, years of the WWE reaching out with HOF offers, FINALLY HE RETURNS.......and gets 5-10 minutes for a career-defining speech.

I'm quite surprised that the only mention of Paul Bearer in this thread before he passed away was that he'd be a good canidate to induct Rick Rude.
Now I wish I had thought to mention his name before he passed away. Oh well, chances are pretty good he'll be in within the next 5 years at least.

Now I wish I had thought to mention his name before he passed away. Oh well, chances are pretty good he'll be in within the next 5 years at least. I have always felt unsure about suggesting Paul Bearer for the HOF each year simply because I thought that we might wait until Undertaker had retired and perhaps been inducted himself. Now we see that waiting for this was unfortunate. I thought Undertaker (and likely Kane as well) should participate in inducting Paul Bearer. The question was, should WWE wait until Undertaker himself has retired and been inducted into the Hall (by Bearer himself perhaps). In the same way, I would personally be hesitant to suggest that WWE induct DX into the Hall of Fame IF Triple H was still semi-active and had not been inducted yet. It's not a matter of worthiness, but a matter of it being the right time. The idea of doing it at the right time was what was keeping some of us from suggesting Paul Bearer. Now it's regrettable that he wasn't inducted earlier.

Yeah, I always figured they were saving Uncle Paul for the same year as the Undertaker.

I would've had Paul Bearer induct Undertaker if he was alive, but now thats not possible, I'd wait until next year at the earlierst. I don't like the idea of inducting somebody into the Hall of Fame as soon as they die(Eddie Guerrero) or forcibly retire(Edge). Its like their doing it out of sympathy, which I'm against.

I hope they don't add anyone else this year so every inductee gets the chance for a lengthy speech. Also Trump's speech shouldn't take half of the show just because he's Donald Trump.

I am guessing we will get 1 more name person and anyone else inducted after that will be some old school regional era star almost everyone here is not familiar with who's 1-2 minute video will just be put obline ala Bob Armstrong.

Personally I think they should add one more person this year.
DDP.
He deserves it, both for his in ring career and his current efforts.

Bruno's this year's territory inductee. The NY area has been McMahon property for 50 years, they wouldn't have anyone who isn't ingrained into the WWE lore.

Mick Foley has significance to the region. He's from Long Island and has history with Madison Square Garden, from hitchhiking there as a teenager to see Snuka leap off the cage to some great moments there as a wrestler. It's fitting that he gets inducted in MSG. Bob Backlund isn't from New York, but he's also special to the region and he headlined many shows in Madison Square Garden as WWWF/WWF Champion. Donald Trump is also a New York/New Jersey area figure.

So far, we have Bruno Sammartino, the guy who's had the longest WWF Championship reign ever; Bob Backlund, the guy who basically was Bruno's successor; Mick Foley, one of the main reasons why the WWF won the Monday Night War; Trish Stratus, probably the last great Women's Champion; And Donald Trump. Yeah, one of these just doesn't belong with the others. I'll give you a hint. {Spoiler}It's Trump.
