WWE hired random models for the most part, not wrestlers. Natalya and AJ were hired on as wrestlers, so my guess is, they will keep wrestling. Hell, even Beth Phoenix is taking a break, but with her, she was doing indies and OVW before wrestling 6 long years in WWE. Though I could see her eventually showing up in Shimmer or for random indies. But a number of those random models became good wrestlers. AJ was not a good wrestler in the indies before she got signed. But because she wasn't a Diva Search contestant or hired from a swimsuit catalog, she got a pass. When a woman does get hired by WWE that does have indie experience like Davina Rose, people either cheer because they finally hired a real wrestler (regardless if they even seen a match of that person) or moaning because they didn't hire one of the bigger names out there. Plus not every one wants to continuing wrestling. Molly Holly retired. Ivory retired. Who to say Beth doesn't want to come back to the ring?

Not much of an Eve fan, but they're going to have to bring at least 1 or 2 up from NXT sooner rather than later and further dilute the already awful Divas division.
I agree with the comment above that there may be more to this story than not. So many Divas have quit in a relatively short period of time. I have to think theres something more at play.

I really never expected Layla to last this long.
She's almost in her mid-30s which is astonishing.

That's a relief. I thought it might be AJ Half the forum cheers and the other half burns the forum down.

I have a feeling that it's more than just being burnt out from being on the road, as it can't be a coincidence that it's been mostly divas that have been leaving the WWE in the past year. Batista as a surprise Rumble entrant, you heard it here first!

That's a relief. I thought it might be AJ Half the forum cheers and the other half burns the forum down. AJ is probably a lock to be around for 5 or more years, unless she like freaks out and pulls a Chyna/Sunny, but if she were to be released the thread would indeed be hilarious.

PWInsider also has an explanation: Self defense program? "Step 1) Make sure you are dating a guy who doesn't know how to change a tire. Step 2) Use him as bait. Step 3) Be sure to only use the above steps if the enemy is some sort of cheesy demon.

So now when Kaitlyn wins the title tonight, they need to build up an opponent for her fast because every other diva on the main roster (except AJ) has been jobbed out/ not showing up on tv enough to matter. So my guess is Kaitlyn feuds with the only other heel diva Tamina until the chamber when they kick start the AJ/Kaitlyn feud for mania.

Let's be blunt here, Naomi, with a year's experience, was better than AJ on NXT. And, from the looks of last week, Kaitlyn is getting better, if not already better, than AJ. And if Maxine had stuck around, she might be better than AJ about now. All of whom are "fake model divas". Trish Stratus was a model. Eve Torres were models and Diva Search winners. Hell, Victoria/Tara was a fitness model. Snatching up someone from the Indies can be a sign of passion, but passion isn't always an estimate of talent. Technically, Velvet Sky is an Indy wrestler.

No! Don't go!
I'll miss Eve, but I figured it was coming when she announced her engagement.

I only see Beth coming back if Edge decides he doesn't want to put on a ring on it. She's made it pretty clear her intentions are to move on with her man and start a family. But a number of those random models became good wrestlers. AJ was not a good wrestler in the indies before she got signed. But because she wasn't a Diva Search contestant or hired from a swimsuit catalog, she got a pass. Excellent post. I would rep you if I could. The issue is more passion for wrestling, not necessarily an indie background. Eve, Layla, Michelle McCool, were all wrestling fans before they came to WWE, even though they started out as models. Velvet Sky is a good classic example of a big wrestling fan with indie experience that became a pro-wrestler, but has never risen above the level of mediocre to average in the ring. Indie experience is not an indicator of talent and ability.

If this is true, 5 out of the last 6 Divas champions (Eve, Brie Bella, Kelly, Beth, Nikki Bella, Layla) are gone from WWE.
EDIT: Make it 8 out of 11 (add Maryse, Alicia, Melina, McCool, and Natalya)

If this is true, 5 out of the last 6 Divas champions (Eve, Brie Bella, Kelly, Beth, Nikki Bella, Layla) are gone from WWE. and not counting the person who takes the title from Eve, only 3 of the 13 people who have held the title in its 4 1/2 year history are still with WWE.

I'm no expert but I'd guess that Diva money really isn't that great and a lot of those women can make just as much if not more via modeling/acting/etc. with a way easier schedule and less travel expenses.

By comparison, I've counted only 4 men who had the WWE/WHC titles in that time frame that aren't in WWE anymore (Jeff Hardy/Jericho/Batista/Edge).
