And I love it.
I was seeing hints of him turning into a wisecracking douche babyface though, which I really don't want.
I haven't been this interested in Del Rio's character since he won the Rumble.

It really helped him that he was in Houston with a huge Hispanic demo and he was basically wearing the Mexican flag, I'll reserve judgment until he is over in a few other locations.

I really dug him last night. If last night is any indication, he saved his career with this face turn.

The dude was a face for 10 years, no surprise he is a good face. Part of the reason he was a bad heel (besides booking, character, etc) could've been he just didn't know how to be one considering he had no experience

I like when he is nice to Ricardo.

I think a big part of it is that they realized how much everyone loves Ricardo, and used THAT as the impetus of the turn.
"Oh, so he actually does love Ricardo as much as we do?!?!? YAAAAAAAAY!!!!!"

"Hints" of wisecracking douche babyface? He completely is one. But he's gonna be pretty good at it, he already has funny delivery. It just can't get too silly and out there, that's all. He does remind me of The Rock a little bit, more like 1998 Rock.

May he never turn heel again. He's extremely fun as a face.

Unless it has anything to do with Rey, I have no idea how they took someone that was pretty much a perma-babyface in Mexico and expected him to work as a heel. But that's WWE logic.
At least he's getting his time to shine now.

As long as he doesn't become the next Sheamus face wise I will keep paying attention

In fairness, if it's a talent I've never seen work - as in Del Rio's case - I couldn't give a less of a f*** if they're worked face or heel before; I care about their new character and if it works. And WWE's attitude to new talents is, I guess, the same. It's not completely unreasonable.

I was confident his face turn would work ever since I saw that video of him in an NXT live event, saving his brother from a beatdown. He's got this heroic and likable quality about him that just comes naturally.

SO much better than "Destiny" Del Rio. You could tell that he was actually enjoying himself, and as a result he came off so much more naturally. I think it'll be a shame if they turn him heel again without giving him at least a couple of years in this face role.

I wonder if they're going to slowly phase out the Million Peso Man-esque parts of his gimmick? I think he'd work well as sort of a lucha face Kurt Angle of sorts without the you suck chants.
The other thing I was thinking about the other day. Damn, if Eddie was still alive and well, imagine the interactions the two would have had. Hell... just for the potential between Eddie and Ricardo, it would have been glorious.

Yeah, I'm loving it. Him and Ricardo have a great chemistry together, although seeing Del Rio offer to fight Big Show RIGHT NOW and have Big Show, the freaking BIG SHOW, back down was just a little stupid.

I agree. So now, let's have this be a short title run so we can have Sheamus vs Orton!

I wonder why nobody thought to get a rich guy gimmick over as a face this way, except possibly worried that fans would be trampled running to grab the cash.

I really hope WWE turns Sheamus heel and the two of them fight over the WHC over the summer.
This is where somebody here posts that Sheamus/Del Rio mutation collage.

Wasn't this guy a face in Mexico his entire time up until he joined the WWE? This is probably the role he should've been playing to begin with.
