Country music doesn't get a lot of love around here. Hell, I don't like it too much myself, but this is one of my favorite songs of all time, hands down:

Two of the greatest singers to ever walk the planet, in my opinion. No one will ever compare.

One of the things I like about country is the same thing I like about classic pop; it can be so unabashedly sweet. To the point where it can come off as really, really lame. But then there's the times when there's nothing in the world that makes more sense than a simple deceleration of emotion.

Country was also the first place I saw a legitimate attempt to tell a story over multiple videos. ZZ Top's car showing up in videos is nice, but watching Mac as I was growing up legitimately still makes me well up. Travis Tritt made three videos over the course of several years, and the first two are amazing. The third I'm not a fan of, but 'Tell Me I Was Dreaming' affected me a way a music video never had before. Thanks to youtube, the trilogy is all collected.

I'm a huge fan of song writers like Smokey Robinson and Brian Wilson, and I still think that's the most beautiful love song I've ever heard

I'm not big on Country myself, but Johnny Cash is my 5th favourite artist of all time. So it has to be a song from him,

Another one from O Brother, Where Art Thou:
...as well as a more modern country song that really tugs the strings:

Country music is awesome. The only reason people don't like it is because of the Nashville establishment and the lame, manufactured, soulless music it produces. Not knocking the great late Johnny Cash, but he wasn't such a special artist that he should be the one and only country singer that so many people can say they're a fan of, he's just one of the cooler ones who usually enjoyed the support of the Nashville establishment as well as the general mainstream media.
There are even popular artists who are only known for disposable pop hits, yet actually made some excellent recordings. Porter Wagoner is an example of somebody who has quite a bit of material that's much more interesting and has aged much better than his most famous stuff.
