Don't quite get why "Viacom, Spike TV's parent corporation, plays hardball with DirecTV and strikes out; DirecTV drops all of Viacom's networks for weeks following failed negotiations over pay rates for the networks. After putting on one of the best PPVs in its history and drumming up tons of positive buzz, TNA's ratings suffer thanks to something far out of its control." This is htere as stated it was something out of TNA's control. Because it's TNA and any chance to detract from it and take a shot at it is open season apparently. That's not it at all, it's more like a "huh it's cursed!" thing. Believe me, I'm a Cleveland sports fan, I know this game.

The whole Tara-Jesse deal is probably one of the only ways a female wrestler can get heel heat these days. If she just beats others up she'll get face pops. They had to do something different. And people just take certain things too seriously now.
I mean, it's not like TNA was betting on him to beg for attention for the company like the Jersey Shore cast or Pacman Jones.

This wiki was much better recieved here when someone posted it the first time. Though I guess that was during a low-period in TNA.

I've made a few contributions to that page. Even though I can certainly laugh at most of the stuff that got on there (I LOVED the barbed wire Christmas tree, for example...way too damn hilarious), there's no question that TNA's done plenty of really stupid stuff.

...that was the gag. Tara didn't really have a 'Hollywood boyfriend' she's a delusional heel. She wasn't actually talking to anyone from Hollywood on the phone. She hyped him up because they both have inflated egos. This. That's what the problem is with a lot of things on this list, the person adding them doesn't seem to have the ability to pick things up that aren't flashing right in their face. They say a lot of things weren't explained but it was more of a case that just because it played out on screen and wasn't like "HEY THIS IS HAPPENING! GUYS THIS IS THE STORYLINE!" that they simply didn't "get" it. I agree. Remember when Sting had the same return promo as Undertaker and everyone was like "OMGZTHEYRIPPEDWWEOFF" and I was like, "It's a parody you idiot"

TNA didn't treat it as a parody. Them invading the soundstage where WWE was filming the Royal Rumble commercial was parody. VKM was parody. TNA treated that Sting video as straight up.

It was played straight yeah but it was a parody. Look at the situation at the time. Vignettes air promoting the Undertaker and EVERYONE thinks its Sting and then its ... not. Then TNA does the same type of vignette and it actually was for Sting. The inspiration and reasoning for it was obvious and blatant and I don't understand at all how only a minority of people here can get that man. I really don't.

I'm honestly on the fence with that one as in I could see how it could have been a parody but it just shouldn't have been done either way. It came across a little tongue in cheek but it was also too serious as well. I think they should have just steered clear of the parody on that occasion as it just wasn't done all that well.

The only reason why most people whipped themselves into a frenzy about it being Sting because of dirtsheet rumors saying he signed with WWE. Everything about the video was leading to the return of the Undertaker but people ignored it. Doing the Sting video a week after Taker returned on Raw came off as bush league instead of parody.

The reason why people thought it was Sting is irrelevant to the point completely. I agree that thats why but the point is that the atmosphere at the time was that Undertaker had just returned after promos that people thought were leading towards Sting and then... TNA does vignettes clearly meant to riff on that fact by making Sting vignettes that were actually FOR STING. I can agree that it was a bad idea to do parody or not but not that it wasn't intended as one never that it wasn't intended as one.

They lose me right away in 2002 when they start talking about how turning AJ heel was a bad idea. It gave him personality and let the big X-division matches have face/heel psychology; what's the problem?
The real issue with this wiki is that when they just list stupid gimmicks, it's fine. When they start COMMENTING on things, then it's eye-rolling.

I like the wiki and this is a guy who prefers watching TNA over WWE right now. TNA's amazing ability to make such dumb booking sometimes is in an odd way refreshing to WWE's staleness.

Not one mention of Disgraceland? *stops reading*
Seriously, funniest moment in TNA history for me, and I'm not being mean. I truly enjoyed seeing that character.
