Obviously the physical belt will still say the words World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion on it but as it's been made apparent that the Big Gold belt isn't on level pegging with the WWE Championship anymore (and I guess to some it may never have been), what else could it be called?
Somebody in another thread suggested the junior Heavyweight Championship which works ok. Not for Junior Heavyweights but a Heavyweight Championship of the 2nd tier variety.
WCW also went through a phase of actually calling the belt, the Big Gold Belt.

They should just get rid of it. There shouldn't be a "2nd Tier Heavyweight Championship". That role should be filled by the Intercontinental Title (now that it's on a somewhat credible name like Wade Barrett).
The only way they'd be able to rename the World Heavyweight Championship and get away with it is to change the design to...not the Big Gold Belt.

Just make the big gold belt the official title belt for WWE's International subsidiary Somebody in another thread suggested the junior Heavyweight Championship which works ok. Not for Junior Heavyweights but a Heavyweight Championship of the 2nd tier variety. When I was a kid I was thought "Junior Heavyweight Champion" was exactly this. I didn't know it was just another way to refer to cruiser/Light-Heavyweights. I thought it was a belt higher than a secondary belt, but just below the world title.

They can EASILY re-establish it. Just have John Cena feud over it, and it becomes VERY important again.

I'd be for getting rid of it as well. I'm also not a fan of guys seeming to get "turns" at the title. While some guys take the title and it puts them at a new level (Daniel Bryan), some people take it and it goes right down the toilet (Jack Swagger). Del Rio is a good choice for Champion as a bottom of the top guy, but they should just have one World Title.
I was thinking that if Cena won the Money in the Bank briefcase, he could win the Rumble, cash in Money in the Bank, and they could unify the titles at Wrestlemania. Sure, people would complain about Cena going over too much, but it puts into motion getting rid of the World Heavyweight Title. It's a lame duck title right now.

That's why he didn't beat Ziggler for the briefcase despite being able to beat him in other matches even with shenanigans. Plus I don't think the World Title can be salvaged after CM Punk's "Second Best In The World" line. The end of the brand split makes the World Heavyweight title seem secondary. When Punk & Ziggler had their match on SmackDown, they treated the WWE Champion like a big deal, like he was a "special guest star" or "doing the SmackDown brand a favor", but the World Champion shows up on RAW, and it's just business as usual.

I wouldn't rename it or drop it but instead have the World Heavyweight Champion just be booked as THE big deal for a while. Put Del Rio over Ziggler and then Punk and then throw him over Cena for the big win in a Face/Face match. I think this would boost the title simply by having the champ win some big matches against big opponents.

Rename it the WCW World Championship, complete with a Booker T heel turn and declaration that he and Smackdown are better than the WWE, creating the launch of WCW Friday Night Smackdown.

Rename it the WCW World Championship, complete with a Booker T heel turn and declaration that he and Smackdown are better than the WWE, creating the launch of WCW Friday Night Smackdown. Better yet: Have him turn King BOOKAH again, proclaim that the Kingdom of Smackdown is independent from Raw, and rename it the "Royal Knight Title." He proceeds to knight every single person who wins the title and takes the title away from them if they lose. Because that's how he thinks nobility works.
