Based of the Best HBO TV shows thread it looks like we have some fans of The Wire here. I watched all 5 seasons over the course of the past month and half and couldn't believe what I've been missing! Easily one of the greatest TV show's I've ever watched.

One of the few shows that had a perfect finale.

Still blows my mind Lt. Daniels originally auditioned to play Bubbles and half of the cast was British. Especially McNulty like that accent sounded to good to be fake. Hell I thought his British accent was awful in that one episode he went undercover as a rich British guy when it was his real voice

He's also Baelish on Game of Thrones

I think I'm going to finally watch this maybe today or tomorrow. I've heard nothing but good things.

One of my very favorite characters, although he was mostly forgotten by the end, sadly.

Also, it's a shame that David Simon is kind of a dickhead and the guy who played McNulty (to perfection, I might add) doesn't really want to talk about the show anymore.
What was everyone's favorite/least favorite character resolution from the finale?
For me, Michael's turn was just too good. Bubbles' end was also handled beautifully.

Michael turning into Omar was f***ing outstanding but I hated seeing what Dukie became by the end. Also HOLY SHIT! The guy that played Cutty voiced Coach from LFD2! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chad_Coleman

I think I'm going to finally watch this maybe today or tomorrow. I've heard nothing but good things. One of the absolute best series/shows I have ever seen!! With that being said, if you are going to start watching it, it is very much a "slow burn" show. Story-lines and the plot are dragged out over several seasons, or the entire series for that matter. The first few episodes may be kind of hard to get into. Also some of the political and street dialogue sails over many peoples heads so be prepared for that. Just stick with it and you won't be able to stop watching it. Much like The Sopranos, watching tv will suck afterwards (at least when shows like Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones and Walking Dead aren't on). Enjoy!!

Give the show at least a few episodes before making a decision. I saw the pilot once and honestly thought it was terrible. Too many characters delivered with too little context and too much jargon. I had no idea who was important and who was just passing through or a secondary character. Close to the end of the first season is when it gets really good. (It does to the most justice to my beloved Kima.)

One of my very favorite characters, although he was mostly forgotten by the end, sadly. I did like just about every surviving character showing up in the last season even if it was just for a cameo. TV doesn't get better than Seasons 3&4.

Absolutely brilliant tv series. It did kind of ruin a lot of television for me though, I look at a lot of drama's and base them against The Wire's measuring stick which just isn't fair to whatever show I'm looking at.
Omar, Clay Davis and the, in my opinion, heavily underrated Season 2 are my favourite things about the show.

Thought the last season was the weakest, but 1 and 2 were very good and 3 and 4 are about as good as television will ever get.

I have never seen a series so consistent in quality, throughout each season it had. I haven't seen a bad episode of it. So many perfect characters, i feel bad singling out any of them but I love Lester Freamon, he is f***in awesome, Mcnulty is a great character played by a great actor, and many many many other excellent performances and actors.
I also loved the end of season music montage's, perfect choice of music for each season.

Easily the best drama I have ever watched, 2nd being Breaking Bad. It is high on the best shows I have ever watched in any genre.
Also..don't mess with Wee Bey's fish man!
