I don't think the time was right in 1986 to do a WrestleMania from three different cities (not to mention two different time zones)... the technology just wasn't there in terms of pay-per-view and broadcasting. Not to mention that the WWF hadn't really settled into their presentation in terms of set design and production style at that point yet; you go back and look at WrestleMania 2 and it just looks very cheap in terms of set design, dark lighting in New York and in Los Angeles, the ring aprons aren't even up on some sides, there's concrete floors instead of mats in two of the locations, among other things...
Now, if they were to try and do this type of presentation again today with modern technology and their modern production designs, I can see it faring better. I doubt it would be a good idea to do three stadium locations, but, if they went to the same three cities and did maybe MSG in New York, Allstate Arena in Chicago, and Staples Center in Los Angeles with a big main event in each city with maybe 2 solid undercard matches for the pay-per-view broadcast and some dark matches for the live audience, I could see it working.

Something I do with my stories in the games (not counting Universe, just stories I do on my own), mostly because of the fact that I tend to use ECW as a legitimate third brand, is I think of WrestleMania as spread across two nights in different cities, with half of the card on each and with one of the title matches headlining each one. Would kind of like to see them try that - you could go with $55 or whatever for each individually like they do now (which is ovepriced as hell, but whatever), and maybe go with both for $100 as an alternative.
