{Spoiler}10: Lex Luger from WWF to WCW, 1995 9: Ric Flair from WCW to WWF, 1991 8: Chris Jericho from WCW to WWF, 1999 7: Mike Awesome from ECW to WCW, 2000 6: Hulk Hogan from AWA to WWF, 1983 5: Rick Rude from ECW to WWF to WCW, 1997 4: Raven from ECW to WCW, back to ECW, 1997-1999 3: Alundra Blayze/Madusa from WWF to WCW, 1995 2: Scott Hall and Kevin Nash from WWF to WCW, 1996 1: The Giant/The Big Show from WCW to WWF, 1999 www.wwe.com/classics/classic-lists/10-most-stunning-defectionsWow, #1 should not be #1. Unless by stunning they meant "known at the time he wrestled his last match that he was going to WWF." Luger should be near the top - THAT was stunning to the WWF execs at the time, much less the fans. Rude is ridiculously low on the list too.

The thing that sets Jericho apart from the others is that it was free of controversy. That may have pushed it down, even though the move was a big deal.
That said, no idea why Big Show is No. 1.

Why are people arguing about order? The list isn't being presented in any ordered format. If this was about ranking, they would have put them in numbered order just like a bunch of their other lists (ex: www.wwe.com/shows/smackdown/just-for-kicks-wwes-top-10-kicks/page-2). In no way are they saying Big Show's debut more shocking than the Outsiders' debut or vice versa. EDIT: In fact, they're asking people to vote on the most surprising defection right on the first page.

Not sure what the big deal was about Jericho jumping, he was a cruiserweight champion who no one cared about in WCW.
Also, since when was Big Show jumping even slightly stunning?
Hall and Nash should be 1 easily for what it set in motion.

Shocked HHH from WCW to WWF is not on there at #7, to keep Jericho in his place

I first read the thread title as "Top 10 Stunning Defecations in Wrestling History." So yeah, I need some caffeine.

I don't know about you guys, but as a kid I had no idea that The Giant was going to show up in the WWF.
Chris Jericho on the other hand EVERYONE knew about so I don't see how his debut was shocking at all.

How about Andre The Giant appearing on WCW programming in 1992? It was his last television appearance and it was with WCW.

Angry that I came here to post both parts of this joke, and they're both already here.
Leaving dissatisfied.

Nash and Hall should be number 1. That changed the whole game.

I'm glad they're acknowledging Awesome as such a big deal. He was an amazing talent and he could've been a huge star in WCW or WWF. He was never given a chance. RIP, Mike. Keep in mind who's involved with .com. I think it's more sour grapes than talking about how great Mike Awesome could have, or should have been.

If not for one certain sticky wicket, the Radicalz would have been on that list

I dunno, there was like a notable gap between him leaving WWF and that. This seems to be covering more going directly from one company to the other.

Remember that huge rant Styles went on at ONS05 - the one where he infamously wished that Awesome was dead, and it came back to bite him a few years later.

In my lifetime as a wrestling fan (going on 30 years...holy crap), nothing will top...
"The Big Gold Belt" defecting to the WWF.
Not necessarily Ric Flair, just seeing Bobby Heenan with THAT BELT on WWF TV was such a strange sight and (unless you recorded it) you were very unsure if it was even real until the next show.
It was as if you were floating around in a really fuzzy state for the two days before Prime Time Monday night, thinking "That was a mirage. That couldn't have been real. Bobby Heenan mentioned Ric Flair on WWF TV and he was holding the actual World title belt!"
(My friends, that is what kayfabe brought to the table.)
Also a little surprised Sean Waltman (Syxx/X-Pac) wasn't listed. That was pretty shocking as well.

This made Hall and Nash debuting on Nitro look like child's play. Look at how Monsoon and Neidhart sell the shock of the reveal. Look at Heenan selling his no-nonsense demeanor. Vince's WWF promoted itself as the ONLY league of professional wrestling and Hulk Hogan as its' champion was what they considered the elite of this ultimate world. The WWE Universe before it became a corporate-fueled buzz word. Now that universe was being infiltrated by a wrestler many considered to be the best in the world. The WWF was never the same after that (and I mean that in a good way). THIS should be number 1.

The Giant going to the WWF wasn't a surprise at all, it was all over the "newz" sites online. The only mystery was his WWF ring name (heavily rumored at the time to be "Big Nasty").
