So I was thinking of this earlier. I was watching a documentary on the 2006 Winter Olympics and for some odd reason, I started thinking about when Kurt Angle won the gold medal back in the 1996 Summer Olympics and then I started remembering his angle with Shawn Michaels and I also remembered the video package for their match at Wrestlemania 21. Angle mentioned about how after he won the gold medal, people asked him about facing Shawn Michaels.
The question in my mind is if that was true. Is it true that wrestling fans approached Kurt Angle with remarks about Shawn Michaels being the greatest wrestler? I know during the time Kurt Angle won his gold medal, Shawn was WWF champion.
I don't know if any of this was true or not. Same with Kurt Angle winning gold with, and I quote, "a broken freakin' neck."

Wouldn't shock me if he'd gone to some schools and been asked that.
If I remember right, Angle did have a broken neck but admitted it was not as severe as what happened with Austin and others.

The broken neck story is true. He usually doesn't mention how he was loaded up on high level painkillers before the match so he wouldn't feel the pain, though.

The broken neck story is true. He usually doesn't mention how he was loaded up on high level painkillers before the match so he wouldn't feel the pain, though. It's written about in the "It's True, It's True" book from when he was still in the WWE. I read it when it first came out and haven't re-read it since, but as I recall, not only did he (or ghost writer) say he was on some extreme pain killers, but weren't they also experimental ones that weren't technically legal/fully tested yet? I think that's how he passed any drug testing as well. Can't remember it all, still own the book and have it somewhere. I think he also said he probably wouldn't have done it in the first place if he had a clear head and thought what he was potentially doing to his health by taking something that hadn't been tested yet vs the reward for taking it, but he was so focused on winning that that was the only thing he could think about.
