TOP NAME PULLED FROM TNA UK TOUR by Mike Johnson @ 1:45 PM on 1/19/2013
TNA champion Jeff Hardy has been pulled from TNA's UK tour, the company announced today via Facebook.
TNA claimed that Hardy was pulled due to an injury (there will be an angle to explain the injury closing out the 1/24 episode of Impact Wrestling) but it's more likely Hardy is unable to travel due to his past legal problems.
TNA has announced that Sting will be replacing Hardy on the tour.
Hardy being yanked means he will miss four weeks of Impact Wrestling TV, unless he is inserted into the show via pre-taped vignettes or interviews.
PWInsider.com has already received negative feedback from readers in that region as Hardy had been advertised for the tour since tickets went on sale eight months ago.
The official announcement reads as follows:
TNA IMPACT WRESTLING regrets to inform our fans in the UK and Ireland that Jeff Hardy will not be on the Road To Lockdown Tour, due to an injury sustained on the TNA IMPACT WRESTLING show on January 18.
However we are delighted to announce that ˜The Icon"™ Sting will be replacing Jeff at the TNA live events in Dublin, Glasgow, Nottingham, Manchester and London.
Also appearing on all five shows will be global wrestling superstars including Kurt Angle, Bully Ray, Austin Aries, Bobby Roode, James Storm, Magnus, RVD, Tara and Velvet Sky.
The Immortal Hulk Hogan and Brooke Hogan were recently added to the roster for TNA'™s TV tapings in Manchester and London.
The stars of TNA Wrestling: British Boot Camp“ Marty Scurll, Rockstar Spud and The Blossom Twins“ will also be appearing in Glasgow, Nottingham, Manchester and London. Extremely low on TNA's part to advertise him knowing he couldn't go and then pull at the last second.

What is the point in making your world champion a guy who can't defend it in different parts of the world.

Damnit, if I knew Sting was going to be at the Dublin show beforehand I would've gone.

If Hardy can't travel due to legal issues, then yes, it was a dick move by TNA to advertise him in the first place. As much of a legend as Sting is, I think Hardy is probably more popular to today's fanbase, so I'm not surprised there is some backlash.

I'm guessing they thought that they could work the visa issues out but just ran out of time.
In any event, they really should not have advertised him until they were sure he could go.

Once again, I question if Hardy is really worth all this hassle to TNA.

Dave Meltzer's take on the Hardy/TNA UK situation, from today's Wrestling Observer news update:
"--Sting will be replacing Jeff Hardy in all cities on the TNA U.K./European tour which begins on Monday. TNA is claiming it is due to Hardy being injured by Aces and 8s.
In actuality Hardy can't come to the U.K. and they had to be aware of it because I was aware of it some time back. It's one thing to shoot an angle to explain him not being there to television fans, it's something very different to advertise him as the top star for people to buy tickets when you know he isn't going to be there.
Sting's tour of the U.K. last year was billed as Sting's final tour of the U.K., but that's pro wrestling. Hulk Hogan and Brooke Hogan will be appearing at both television tapings in Manchester and London, but not at the other shows."

Bit of a dick move by TNA to advertise him, then make up a reason to pull him when everyone knows why he can't go. {Spoiler}And why they just didn't have Daniels win the belt and go on the tour with it, I have no idea.

Last thing TNA's need to do is piss off their largest market. Keep doing this and they will lose face with their base there.

He's not Spoiler for the end of the 1/24 Impact (the 1/18 event mentioned in the PR) {Spoiler}Hardy beats Daniels clean, Taz comes out and cuts a promo on Hardy who is then attacked and beaten with a hammer like Angle and Sting were.
