I could put a lot more detail in the subject line but there is not enough room. Anyway, here it goes.
I know it can be argued that Showtime is still a known premium channel that has TV shows like Weeds, Dexter, etc. It also shows Strikeforce and boxing. It is also owned by CBS, which is probably the reason why I remember seeing Strikeforce and EliteXC on CBS before.
However, I noticed that there are very little major Hollywood movies that are even shown on those channels. Yes, I noticed that Showtime has sub-run rights for Universal movies, but HBO/Cinemax have the rights to newer Universal movies. Other than that, they show independent movies mostly or even movies that they had rights to already with Paramount movies or movies from Touchstone Pictures or even Miramax/Dimension.
I know a while back, they had rights to Paramount movies, Lionsgate movies and MGM movies. Now they are on Epix, which I don't have. The only thing closest to anything major they have these days are CBS Films (Well CBS owns Showtime), The Weinstein Company, Dimension Films, Miramax Films and Summit Entertainment, and regarding Summit, I read that they were bought out by HBO.
I guess Showtime needs to do something about their movie situation. It's almost like they are the other independent movie channel.

It does have a show where the girl from Phantom of the Opera is frequently naked.
