Expects us to buy WCW related DVDs(and other merchandise)?
From a business stand point I can understand him not sitting on all these WCW assets and not doing anything. But I still find it weird how much we're told that "WCW sucks! By the way, buy some WCW DVDs!"

I think they are trying to show the current generation that WWE is the best and nothing comes close. As for the generation that grew up with the Monday night wars and knew what WCW was all about, they can get them to but the DVDs. But you do have a really good point.

Eh, they all buried each other. WWF buried WCW. WCW buried WWF. ECW buried them both. They were all competing and wanted fans to think their organization was best.
It just turns out that WWF/E won the war. WCW would have done the same thing if they beat the WWF.

I don't think they spend as much time burying WCW as people say. They make fun of the worst of wcw on the web shows (though they also make fun of crap from WWE's past), and there's the occasional remark during some flashback on RAW (like when they showed a clip of Foley's title win, but that was months ago). But most often, WCW is ignored. And sometimes, when they want to hype up the World Heavyweight Title or the U.S. title they run down some of the more positive history of the NWA/WCW. And when they wheel out a legend for this or that, or have a HOF induction package, the non-WWE history isn't even really ignored anymore, and in fact the accomplishments in WCW and other promotions is highlighted.

Vince wants you to buy the WCW that he is convinced existed, and that is the shitty version he has peddled to us since 2001. And people will still buy it. He is too proud to change that and make more money.

I think Vince & his marketing team know old fans and big wrestling fans like us will buy WCW sets (bar the Rise & Fall set I own all the collection sets they've put out) given how many people will remember WCW.
In regards to making newer fans think WCW was junk, I'm not really sure of that in all honesty. They may make subtle digs at WCW or keep pushing they won the Monday Night Wars too regularly but they never really say "WCW WAS AWFUL ALL THE TIME AS AN ON SCREEN PRODUCT" which would genuinely affect sales of DVDs.
Plus on the sets themselves they deal with every match/moment in a very respectful way, one of my favourite wrestling DVDs is the top 25 matches from Starrcade collection. I may own half of the matches on bootleg DVDs already but man, such a great collection.

......the WCW DVDs they've done (esp. Nitro Vol.1 and the forthcoming Nitro Vol.2) have had impressive line-ups. If Vince really hated them, (a) the DVDs wouldn't exist, and (b) the DVDs wouldn't be NEARLY as good as they appear to be.

Somewhat on-topic, but one thing I've always found weird, is that for as "If it didn't happen in WWF/E, it's doesn't mean s**t" as Vince/WWE can be, non-WWE guys have had a lot of power backstage. For example, Michael Hayes. Didn't do s**t in WWF (yeah a few Freebirds matches, so what), and then he was Dok Hendrix. And he's been the #2 or 3 guy in creative for years. And also Johnny Ace. I know he's not in much power now, but for the longest time, he was the talent guy. Again, a guy that didn't do a single thing in WWE, and he was running the talent dept very soon after joining the company.

I mean in all fairness, WCW in the years before the nWo and in the years after the nWo was pure shit. Yeah I hear the early years were good, but no one ever talks about them since WCW really didn't do all that much during that time.

I'd love a DVD devoted almost entirely to WCW from 1993 through Hogan's arrival in 1994. It'd mean Rick Rude vs. Ricky Steamboat matches, Steve Austin as US Champion, Sting and Muta, Vader dominating, and various awesome things.

Vince believes anything can be rebuilt. He probably thinks the whole burial concept it ridiculous

Vince loves money more than just about anything else. He paid for the WCW tapes library and now he's maximizing his profit by selling several different DVD sets of the footage.

I actually think WCW will no longer be buried quite as much when Vince dies or retires. Triple H, for all of his faults, is an old-school guy and loves a lot of stuff from WCW, and I could see him push for a lot of those elements to even return in WWE, including War Games.

It depends on which era of WCW, with the most popular era (from a casual fan's viewpoint) being the Monday Night Wars-era WCW (1996-early 2001).

If you really want to see WCW treated with respect watch Vintage Collection, they even treat guys like Sting and Muta as equals to WWE legends (which they also do on WWE.com), it also proves that WCW did have some great stuff before the NWO.
They also have matches like Masahiro Chono vs Muta as the main-event.

in all the recent stuff they've done nobody really buries WCW. The nWo documentary wasn't really a burial. They just said how it eventually got to be too much.
What has changed is they have started using more people in their documentaries that were in WCW but genuinely enjoyed the good. A guy like Jericho, who wasn't used terribly in WCW, hated being there and doesn't recall his time there fondly. Others actually had fun and are more level headed, as well as guys like Joe Henning and Cody Rhodes who were fans of WCW because of their dads.
