So my job has been leaving me too pooped to do much else lately accept when I get home watch a movie or two before falling asleep. Along with some good aforementioned Troma fun I watched two Bobcat movies in the past week. I also previouisly saw God Bless America. I was wondering what people thought of his directing work?
Here are some random thoughts on his work:
Sleeping Dogs Lie: I don't know how they stretched this concept out to a feature length film. Without giving too much away it is the story of a woman who is about to get married but has to tell her would-be husband that she blew a dog once. For real. The argument can be made that as the story unfolds it is much less about that secret and moe about what trust really means in a relationship. Not really sure who there target audience was for this one.
World's Greatest Dad: My favorite of the three. I normally don't care for Robin Williams, but he keeps his negative traits in check here. To summarize again this movie is about a kid who is a real asshole who dies during auto-erotic asphyxiation and how his dad stages it to look like the son instead killed himself. Some pretty funny moments here, but it is tough to say too much about it without giving away the ending.
God Bless America: I get the feeling that there is a very small cult audience that absolutely love this film. For the rest of us there are some good bits and some not-so good bits. Definitely worth watching more than once (though I've yet to do that). For those interested this movie is about a guy who is a real introvert that finds out he is terminally ill. He then decides to go on platonic Bonnie and Clyde killing spree with a teenage girl he just met.

Windy City Heat is probably one of the funniest movies ever made. Shakes the Clown is also amazing but doesn't work for everyone. Did not like Sleeping Dogs Lie at all. Hsven't seen God Bless America yet but it sounds like the perfect movie for me which makes me think I will be disappointed by it.

I really liked God Bless America. World's Greatest Dad was also good but did make me feel uncomfortable at times. I haven't seen Sleeping Dogs Lie but based on the description,I don't think I want to.

Worlds Greatest Dad has one of the most uncomfortably depressing scenes I've ever seen... and I love that movie.
Need to check out his other films.
