I still want a WWE game made by Square Enix. Anyone played All Star Pro Wrestling? They NAILED the animations and production values in ASPW3 and that's a roughly 10 year old PS2 game. I'd love to see a WWE game with an updated version of that engine.

I agree. I can live without a WWE game until 2014 or, at worst, early 2015 so long as the final result is the best game possible. It gets frustrating when most sports games come out every year and they're basically the same game with updated rosters. I'd rather the new WWE game developers take the route of going every other year and really taking the time to fix any glitches and bugs. I've played my share of games that just weren't shelf ready on day one and had to be patched like crazy. I just hope that doesn't happen with the next WWE games. To be fair, under 2K, they'll have so many updates anyway that it'll negate the necessity. They update NBA 2K13 pretty regularly, including roster updates. Now, there's how you go about about releasing biannually. Make it WWE 2K14/15 and have regular (free) roster updates. Hell, it wouldn't really take much considering the debuts don't come thick and fast. We get up to date rosters, they get more time to work on the game we love, win win. Also, I'd love to see them really go all out WWE and include NXT in there too. They're used to making hundreds of players on their other sports games, so the entire WWE and NXT roster ain't going to come close to that. Would be a really fun thing to see.

This could be really awesome. The NBA2K series has been fantastic.
It's time for a fresh start. Completely. Wrestling games have been completely stagnant for too long. I'll take just about anything new at this point.

There's no way they could pump out roster updates that quickly and free. For a team sports game, they need stats, name and something that kinda looks like the player. For WWE, they need a proper move-set, entrance and something that actually looks like the Superstar. That requires a lot more time and effort, so I wouldn't expect free and almost instant roster updates.

Perhaps not at the swift rate of their other games, but they don't exactly have to modify everything like they do on NBA. Simply adding, and you could argue taking away depending on realism (releases), superstars after their debut. You get like 10 debuts a year at best, and I have a feeling that 2K wouldn't leave any current superstar out like Yukes/THQ did simply due to them not being 'relevant'.

Agreed with that. There's a lot more that goes into a wrestler than a basketball player.
The amount of polish and presentation that 2K could bring to the game would still be awesome to see.

Honestly, I think they need to stop with yearly releases. Take some time to really improve the game instead of shoving out games every year and quality will improve.

I just hope they don't make the controls or gameplay too complicated. Otherwise I'm intrigued.

The part that intrigues me most is the potential for the inclusion of myCareer to WWE games. It'd be pretty cool to see. Going into Vickie Guerrero's office and demanding a title shot, or a trade, or finding a tag team partner, finding your own feuds, making allies, making friends, backstage segments, interviews, promos...
I want so bad.

I bet they license Yukes to do next year's game as they build a new one in the time being.

I bet they license Yukes to do next year's game as they build a new one in the time being. I'm almost certain this is what they'll do. Either that or keep WWE 13 for now and add to it through DLC and patches. Perhaps get the Yukes release out earlier so they can release their 2K15 game just after Wrestlemania (start of the WWE season).

I have a feeling the next game, regardless of developer, is going to be unmatched graphically. It'll definitely be a step down though in a lot of avenues.

Unless the WWE says no to them using some of the lower card, which is usually what's reported when people aren't in the games.

With EA taking UFC and 2K taking WWE, this could leave Yukes completely out of any notable releases if they choose (and EA certainly will) in-house development. Unless Yukes take on TNA or another major brand we could be saying goodbye to Yukes too.

I wonder since THQ is no more, are the servers going to shut down? I still haven't downloaded the DLC yet and would be annoyed if they shut it down before I got to download it.

After a long time we're going to see what another developer can do with the license. My only worry is what this means for the creation suite.

As far as DLC goes on the 360, once no one can legally collect any publisher side money from the sale of content on the Xbox Live, Microsoft pulls all content from the store (although, you can still download it if you bought it before it was taken down). I imagine that Sony works the same way with the Playstation Store. I guess that the servers will stay up as long as THQ still exists in some form (which won't be for very long, but enough that you could probably get any content you want from Community Creations). Also, since Take-Two is no longer required to make MLB games (their money sink of an exclusivity/requirement deal expired last year and they're now opting to make games without that deal), I wonder if they'll can the MLB games to focus on WWE, NBA and Tennis (once every 3~4 years).

I'm just excited for the potential of a game where I can change the participants in a match without causing the game to freeze. Just imagine, a match where I can choose who is in it. I mean, really, a match in a career mode featuring two opponents that I want to see in a match, and actually having it happen. That's unheard of in WWE '13!!! Just think about it, really think about it. It makes no sense that your tag team champions are in a match together, so you change it so one of them is facing a member of the #1 contenders for the tag team titles. And then that match happens! I get goose bumps at the thought of not watching a black loading screen for 5+ minutes while I hold on to hope that it'll finally load the match, which only ends in disappointment.

As I said in the games thread, we could have one hell of a game on our hands should 2K Games/Visual Concepts be assigned it. Gameplay wise, it would have the potential to be outstanding. They'd have to take a hell of a lot of the pre-existing style to ensure it doesn't bomb though. Custom themes, custom entrances, custom everything. Playing NBA 2K13, there's not much in the way of appearance customisation. In my opinion, a Yukes/Visual Concepts collab published by 2K Games, would be the best possible course of action for now. I actually think taking a year out would be a good idea. For the most part, WWE '13 could hold it's own for another year. Whoever is assigned the game, work with Yukes to develop up to date DLC and addons to the game to keep the current game fresh. In the meantime, 2K can work on transitioning the game and developing their own interpretation of it. It's going to change a lot, but damn it could be good. This really could be the start of something new. I'm thinking something like Fire Pro Wrestling, next-gen-non-avatar style. I don't have a problem with yearly additions if we have a solid core. Basically like what Cory Ledesma touted that they were attempting to do with WWE12 but like, actually doing it. Actually building a modest, solid game to start with, and continually growing, while not taking any bold leaps that they can't handle. The only way THQ/Yukes were gonna save the franchise (from a quality standpoint, business aside) was if they literally crashed everything and started from scratch. You can't reassemble the Smackdown games' broken pieces and turn a working game out of it. There's just too much unrefined shit on there. I got my fingers crossed that T2 can push out a quality wrestling game but I'm almost convinced that concept is a dying art. It's really hard to believe we'll ever get quality wrestling games like we used to.

I'm mixed about this. Yes I think its time for a new start, but I love the simplicity of the THQ controlls. If we get some Attitude esque rediculous button combos I won't be happy
