Hmm, not sure how to feel about this. WWE '13 is fun, but theres still some a lot of things that could be done better.

We have a WWE Games thread... This is bigger than that. I'm not sure what they'll do with it but cool I guess.

Sounds good to me. Once EA doesn't get the franchise

The era of THQ wrestling games is over. Sources have indicated to IGN that the WWE game franchise will be sold to Take Two, parent company of 2K. Terms of the sale are unknown at this time, as details have not been finalized. These negotiations appear to have taken place outside THQ's formal auction process.
This news comes as THQ assets have been divided among several different publishers, pending court approval.
For more on WWE games, and THQ's future, stay tuned to IGN - official announcements are expected as soon as tomorrow.

Only about 10 weirdos who pretend their universe mode is doing stuff it isn't use the games thread.
Anyway on subject, if this means I have to learn a new button/control set I won't be happy. I might even post about how angry I am in the games thread. We shall see.

Huh, I'm pretty sure more than 10 people use that thread, and their universe is doing that stuff.

This is major news. It is perfectly fine being outside the game thread.

As I said in the games thread, we could have one hell of a game on our hands should 2K Games/Visual Concepts be assigned it. Gameplay wise, it would have the potential to be outstanding. They'd have to take a hell of a lot of the pre-existing style to ensure it doesn't bomb though. Custom themes, custom entrances, custom everything. Playing NBA 2K13, there's not much in the way of appearance customisation.
In my opinion, a Yukes/Visual Concepts collab published by 2K Games, would be the best possible course of action for now. I actually think taking a year out would be a good idea. For the most part, WWE '13 could hold it's own for another year. Whoever is assigned the game, work with Yukes to develop up to date DLC and addons to the game to keep the current game fresh. In the meantime, 2K can work on transitioning the game and developing their own interpretation of it. It's going to change a lot, but damn it could be good. This really could be the start of something new. I'm thinking something like Fire Pro Wrestling, next-gen-non-avatar style.

Don't have anything to do with them, build a new & better engine than Yukes/THQ could've only dreamed of.

This is the same developers that made DOR series and the early SmackDown series. Maybe without the chokeholds of Cory and THQ, Yuke's could go back to their old ways of making a good game.

Those were great games 10 years ago. It's time for a totally fresh take on WWE game development.

It's inevitable that if they were to completely redo the engine/graphics/system/animations that have been steadily built up over the years that the first game in the series would be underwhelming to some extent. There's no way I can see the first entry in a ground-up new game having the crazy levels of content we're so used to now.
That said, f***ing do it. I want to play a WWE game that doesn't feel like a PS2 game with enhancements. Get the first one out to show people the potential, and knock 'em away with the next installment after that.

I can live without a WWE game until 2014 or, at worst, early 2015 so long as the final result is the best game possible. It gets frustrating when most sports games come out every year and they're basically the same game with updated rosters. I'd rather the new WWE game developers take the route of going every other year and really taking the time to fix any glitches and bugs. I've played my share of games that just weren't shelf ready on day one and had to be patched like crazy. I just hope that doesn't happen with the next WWE games.
