These are everywhere. VH1, Maxim, WWE.com, Cracked, is notorious for them. Again I'm not trashing themcompletely, but this is truly the big thing going on. Moreso now than ever before I think.
Is there a list of lists yet?
Thoughts?

10 reasons why people make lists. 10. They're fun. 9. They're easy. 8. It's something to do. 7. Writing is hard. 6. It's cool. 5. People like the anticipation. 4. Did I say "it's easy" yet? 3. It's convenient. 2. It's cheap. And the number 1 reason why people make lists?
1. David Letterman reference!

You think it's bad now? Remember 1999/2000 where pretty much every aspect of the millenium was turned into a list.

I think "lists" have really lost their appeal to me. Especially over the past 3-4 years. I get why they work for readers, but to me they're usually poorly written with no eye for creativity or craft.

It's a good point, so here are 10 reasons that I can't think of for why we are so obsessed with lists these days.
10: ....uh......let me think on it.

They also allow for a lot of "Stay turned to find out who's number 1" or "click here to see who's #1"
Those extra clicks mean big advertising dollars

Theres always been countdowns, like 10 years ago Filter on g4. Thing is it will die out since you can only list oh so much, go away for a while then come back.
