It's hard to love and tolerate corporate hands in the muffin box ...you mean like the Canterlot Wedding, which clearly had its own bits of executive meddling, and is regarded by this very forum as the best episodes thus far?

Well if the series was intented to end with season 3, and they are continue because of the suprise popularity, that meant they were going to end the series without any of the CMCs getting their cutie marks, not one of them. That depresses me.

A Canterlot Wedding didn't change one of the main characters however. They merely introduced two new characters. (Related to Twilight no less, but that's another argument)

Not only that but it worked so well because of who wrote the episodes. If a certain writer with the initials MW wrote those episodes......well we'd probably have a vastly different opinion of Cadence and Shining Armor. And really when you get down to it, it was the Changelings that really made those episodes work. Point is A Canterlot Wedding worked because it was a perfect storm type conditions.

I remember that was one episode when the Changelings was a surprise. There was no hype towards them. All the other episodes like "The Return Of Harmony" and "The Crystal Empire" we all knew going in, there was a big baddie. But "A Canterlot Wedding" that was a nice little surprise. I was expecting a typical wedding episode, with the only conflict is someone has cold feet, the groom is stuck and is in danger of not makint it to the chapel on time, etc. Not a action good vs evil episode.

Correct. Queen Chrysalis was a total surprise, nothing about her was leaked. Its no surprise after the episode ended that Chrys artwork was everywhere. It worked beautifully.

I honestly would've liked A Canterlot Wedding a lot more if it were just a typical wedding episode.

Yeah Crysallis and the Changelings was a total surprise. I thought there is a better change of Shinning Armor getting stuck in a tree after going sky diving than having an action oriented plot.
Points to anyone that gets that reference.

Yeah, when "Cadence" went all evil on us in the first episode I flat out said, "Holy shit......." And then there was Part 2......oh man........

Still looking forward to the finale personally. and I look forward to Season 4. Yeah I like to stay positive See that's just one of my personal problems. I am ALWAYS pessimistic when it comes to the things I'm a fan of because I am just too damn use to being dicked over by the company behind it or getting disappointed. But this is still ok, IMO, because I was pessimistic going into the most recent episode, A Canterlot Wedding, Magic Duel, and Sleepless in Ponyville and loved them. Even though it doesn't happen often, I like being surprised by this show, when it comes to episode quality. I'd rather always be expecting the worst and getting surprised over expecting the best and getting let down. IE, if I went into the Crystal Empire episodes expecting greatness, I'd have been pissed at what I saw. But because I went into the episodes dreading them, the blow of them sucking(IMO) was softer.
