So in Superman, is everyone allowed to swear equally? Is that the important thing? This thread isn't directed simply at Rock. It's directed at the people making an exception just for Rock. And this exception is just one reason why I can't stand the PG facade.

In fact, it's actually HELPED people develop character without resorting to swearing. While I can see some validity in this point, going even further to a G-rating would also create some "interesting boundaries". Doesn't mean that's necessarily mean it would a good idea. In my opinion, WWE, by it's very nature, gravitates towards a TV-14 product. Seems like with TV-PG, they are always pushing against the ceiling. Why not just get comfortable under a more natural ruleset?

Because he's PG exempt. Randomly. Why not just drop the bulls*** and let guys be themselves? Who says they aren't? Rock is being Rock. And most of the other guys have adapted well to what they were given. So what's the problem? I guess Cody pantomiming fellatio would get him over, right? Because letting a select few be themselves and hoping everyone else "adapt well to what they are given" is working so well...

Because the attitude-era guys look down upon the current era like they're just not as entertaining (it's true - watch the Attitude Era DVD), so when an Attitude guy comes back it's like - OK show us how to entertain in the PG era. Nope. Can't do it. Rock doesn't even bother to try.

It's funny because the first half of the Attitude Era was rated PG.

WWE could go a lot further than they do with TV-PG. I'd say at times the product has been closer to TV-G.

It's the Rock. That's the sole reason, because it's the Rock.
He's the exception to the rule. Always has been and always will be. The Rock puts butts in the seats and if he wants to say ass thirty times in a promo and talk about his testicles, then he'll get to damn well do it.
As for everyone else, stick to the script.

Vince McMahon hates CM Punk's penis. Because it's skinny fat, has no definition or veins, and is covered in shitty tattoos. It also has terribly overrated "workrate".

When the Rock very first talked about coming back a couple of years ago he said 2 things needed to happen...
1. It needed to be to do something special and not just a one shot deal.
2. The Rock doesn't do PG

Because if you have the Rock on you show, it'd be stupid of you not to allow him to say the things people actually want to hear from him. That's why Rock gets to bend the rules a little.

Rock created his shtick back when rules weren't so strict, so he still gets to use it now? What about current members of the roster that might have ideas for promos and such, but have to bite their tongues? For a show about violence, they're taking the censorship of language way too far. My main problem is their wishy-washy, cherry-picking manner of PG. Early in the night we could hear: "Oh you didn't know? You_ ___ better call somebody!" Later in the night we hear: "You punk ass bitch!"

Forget Ring of Honor references, the real thing that rebel CM Punk keeps wanting to do is go out there and cut a promo about his wang, and The Man keeps holding him down. Only the special golden boy company men get to make dick jokes on air, it's how they hold the indie talent down. Vince McMahon hates CM Punk's penis. I want Punk to cut a promo where he talks about how Vince fears indy cock. Boom period.

Good lord, WWE is just atrocious with these inconsistencies:
The way in which this is edited would lead one to believe Punk is flat-out calling himself a "punk-ass bitch".

It's funny because the first half of the Attitude Era was rated PG. And Smackdown (Aka "THE ROCK'S SHOW") has ALWAYS been PG.

I was more upset that the live cursing during the Rumble was censored.
If I'm paying top dollar for a PPV I better get some F bombs.

When Smackdown was on UPN back in the day, our local feed had a TV-MA rating in the corner of the screen for the whole show. For what seemed like every week for the first few years. But I think that was something done by a few local UPN affiliates.

Interesting thing about those TV Parental Guidelines, the people who decide what your show gets are The show itself and the network its on.

Who cares? I don't give a crap about Superman. Apples to oranges anyways. Cena doesn't give a crap about you, either. Honestly, I don't mind because most of the Rock's insults sound like they came from a 7-year-old anyway.
