I didn't cry when my father died, by when Optimus passed on to that great Truck Stop in the sky, I sure as hell did. Same here, of course Optimus was a more more hand on father figure for me than my own father.

I really wish the Matrix website was still up. It had its Top 50 most pivotal moments in Transformers history. Several scenes from the movie were in it. One of them, of course, was the death of Starscream.

Only slightly related, but from the comic "The Transformers: The Animated Movie", they did explain something that wasn't mentioned in the movie: where the other combiners were, as well as Omega Supreme. Y'know, when that series was solicited they promised lots of resolved plot holes and new material would be in it.......but it read like the movie almost exactly. (the original adaptation did not, but that's kinda typical of old school comic movie adaptations - they don't have the full script, so they work together a story as best they can). Completely missed this 2 pager, though. And when you think about it, very few characters (if any?) introduced in Season 2 were even in the movie.

Reason for the so few season 2 characters was because this movie was being made during Season 2, when most of these characters had yet to debut.
For example, I do wonder what happened to the female Autobots that we saw in that one episode.
And aparently that two page spread was from the trade paperback version.

The only season 2 characters i can think of that had any somewhat major roles (ie, spoken parts) were Perceptor, Blaster, Astrotrain, and thats about it. No Seaspray, Cosmos, Omega Supreme, Combaticons, Protectobots, Airealbots, Stunticons, Hoist, Thrust, or Dirge.

Possibly my favorite movie ever. I watched it 8 times the year I bothered to count how many times I watched it in a year. I've probably watched it more some years haha.

I can't attempt to count how many times I've seen it. I'm no where near done watching it.

I can do the entire movie, with voices.
Word for word.
I know the entire movie. I have watched it so many times. I currently own it on DVD in about 5 different formats and versions, and keep meaning to import the remastered Australian Blu of it.
I used to watch the VHS from the local video store so often, that the woman used to just keep it behind the counter for me every friday because I would be in to take it. She eventually just gave it to me.
Just awesome.
Until Avengers this year, this was easily my favourite movie. It's still an easy favourite.

Starscream: WHO DISRUPTS MY CORONATION?!?! Galvatron: Coronation, Starscream? This is bad comedy! Starscream: Megatron? Is that you?! Galvatron: HERE'S A HINT!! What a moment! Although my favourite is the Megatron/Unicron reformat sequence.

I remember going to that movie for my birthday. I think the next year I got it on VHS for my birthday. Thank you Grandma!
I still love that movie and my son loves that movie. I've seen it so many times that I can walk around quoting it.

Do you think a live action film with the style of G1 can be done? Or should it done similarly to the newer shows? And DON'T MENTION THE MICHAEL BAY MOVIES, PLEASE! The first one was decent, but the second one was too long and cheesy.

The best they could do would be modernised designs, similar to what the Bay ones had, but with a G1 story. IE, less humans and more robot drama

I think it could work in flash back form, but the stuff really has to be set on Earth as the average cinema goer, who is there for big effects and popcorn stuff will likely level accusations that it's 'too much' or 'too confusing.'
