www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2013/01/mike-tysons-turn-on-svu/272620/Let me preface this with I don't really watch SVU anymore. I don't hold any grudges against Mike Tyson and thought he was used fine in the WWE and The Hangover, but something seems off about SVU paying him. That show has shed a lot of light and done some good things for sexual assault victims, he just doesn't seem like a guy they should give time to.

Is there a more politically correct term you'd prefer for nonconsensual sex?

Yes, let's continue to put a title on a man from his lowest point, something that probably happened before you were born, and after he has paid his debt to society, and reinvented his person. The man is at peace with him self 20+ years later, yet people just won't let him forget. You say you don't hold a grudge, but say " he just doesn't seem like a guy they should give time to." If you don't like him fine, but be straight up.

Well on one hand he at least does seem to genuinely want to reform and seems to legitimately regret what he's done...
... on the other hand, I don't think serving half of an already light six-years sentence for ruining an 18-years-old girl's life is really "paying his debt to society" and is enough to forgive him for the numerous people he's made suffer.

Without getting into too much, you can only serve/pay what the legal system asks of you. He might view this as bringing attention to the terrible crimes as a way of atonement... or he might view this as an easy paycheck. We will never know.

Still, he got off easy considering the number of lives he's ruined. I'm not sure I really hate him anymore but I certainly don't feel bad for whatever crap he goes through. Also, I'm not very well aware of the US legal system but don't you have to request a parole?

Well he IS. Just because he's no longer doing it doesn't undo the fact that he has been guilty of it, and as a result it is objectively accurate to describe him as a rapist because, you know, he committed rape, and that's the definition of a rapist: someone who has committed at least one rape in their life.

Not really at least from my understanding you get evaluated during certain periods of your stay and if board feels your answers are adequate than they grant it to you if not back to the cell you go

I'm not getting this. People are angry he's playing the role of a rapist on a TV show? It's not like someone hired him to put shit in women's drinks and then take them home. That would be a poor job decision.
The man went to prison. He served time...if it's more or less than what an individual wanted, that's not left up to us. This is by no means a validation for what he did, but at what point do people try to treat him like a person again instead of an action from 20 years ago. One he has not done again to my knowledge.

Here's an idea: If you don't want to be called a rapist, don't rape people.
Cry me a goddamn river up in here.
