Here's an idea: If you don't want to be called a rapist, don't rape people.Cry me a goddamn river up in here.

There was a lot of controvery about the validity of the accuser's story when this happened. Mike Tyson is compassionate and caring individual and has become one of my favorite celebrities. He served his debt to society and is obviously no longer a threat to anyone nor is he a violent person anymore.

I said I think he was used well in the WWE and liked him in the Hangover. There are a number of things he has done since, that he has done well in. I am glad the man can still find work still. What seems off to me is more that this show which gets a lot of good publicity from anti-rape groups and victims rights groups would cast a man who is a convicted rapist. The main star runs a foundation that supports victims. If he were cast in the Office or Glee of whatever nobody would really even notice much, but to not see the irony in casting one of the biggest public figures convicted of rape in the last 20ish years in a crime procedural based heavily on rape crimes is just kinda silly.
... and for the record I remember watching several of Tyson's matches. I saw the clips when he won the title and I watched the night Buster Douglas did what was thought impossible. I saw that trial and I watched the comeback. I saw him bite off Holyfield's ear. I saw him back in the courtroom for losing his shit on some guy after a car accident.

I'm not getting this. People are angry he's playing the role of a rapist on a TV show? It's not like someone hired him to put s*** in women's drinks and then take them home. That would be a poor job decision. The man went to prison. He served time...if it's more or less than what an individual wanted, that's not left up to us. This is by no means a validation for what he did, but at what point do people try to treat him like a person again instead of an action from 20 years ago. One he has not done again to my knowledge. Yeah, I gotta go with this. I'm not saying that we should ignore what he did, but at some point we have to give people a second chance. He seems to be a really good person these days, that should count for something.

Research the case a lil more, and your opinion might change. It's always been a bit sketchy if he did do it.
Obviously he was convicted, and SOMETHING happened, but many of the details make it look a bit like the Kobe case.

Obviously he was convicted, and SOMETHING happened, but many of the details make it look a bit like the Kobe case. This is very true. It is also worth noting that the attorney that Don King had hired for him was a tax lawyer, not a criminal one. Many legal experts agree that if he had the proper lawyer, he never would have gotten convicted.

I third this, and we are not truly showing faith in our rehabilitative legal system is we can't look at people with a clean slate once they have done their time. You might as well execute people or leave them in prison to rot if they're not going to be allowed to act and behave like a free, law-abiding person. If he had been charged with rape, was clearly guilty, but then got off on a technicality or something then I would see a cause for outrage. It seems that some people are having an emotional reaction akin to seeing somebody committing a crime and getting away with it, but that's not what's happening here.
