Good to see FiM still did decent money It probably would've pulled in more had the dev team not said to stop donating in its name and back something else instead. They're afraid of Hasbro getting on their backs so they don't want any attention brought to it and EVO would've done that.

I love how melee and it's fanbase gets shat on the most by people in this thread yet it won and raised the most money. Never would I think that a charity like this would get so much hate. I love the smash community and I'm quite satisfied to let the numbers speak for themselves. Melee is an amazingly complex game if you understand it (not arguing other fighting games aren't) and the idea that a game with that much diversity is more boring than an old school 2D fighting game is ridiculous in my mind.
Melee deserved this win. 4-stock breast cancer! You guys are hilarious and please never change. I will never hate a community that can do this much good and I can't understand how anyone can.
edit: Also I don't understand the items argument. You play a game differently but that doesn't mean yours is the only way. Stupid argument imho. If I play COD and I love search and destroy I wouldn't get angry and say its stupid if a tournament is using team deathmatch settings. Seems like a random nitpick for no reason. You can play original DOTA on Warcraft 3 and it definitely had some tournaments and i'm sure the pro Warcraft 3 players weren't hating on it. The game is clearly playable without items hell it's a setting the programmers put in.
I cannot wrap my head around the fact that because a game wasn't meant to be played professionally it shouldn't be. Please elaborate on how/why this lowers the games value at a professional level.

Aren't Melee and PSASBR practically the same? I would've rather PSASBR won since it's newer.

I am usually a classy man but.....YEH TAKE IT HATER!DANCE OF JOY,DANCE OF JOYS.
Smash Bros is probably the most snubbed Fighting game because it has a mode with items(THAT DOESN'T INTEREFERE AT ALL WITH TOURNAMENT PLAY) and is a very different 2D fighter.
Happy to see Melee getting some LOVE!Game is so fun,and while i like brawl better,no doubt Melee is the more "competitive" one.I will just enjoy the game.
And all stars is very different frm Smash Bros, they got the idea fom Smash Bros, but they made it into their own thing.

One of the most hated games for basically no reason besides it's a different fighting game. People at tournaments seem to be recognizing more and more how much skill it does take to play the game at their level though which makes me happy.

Don't really know anything about this, but honestly outside of not having stumbling I really don't see why someone would prefer Melee over Brawl. Not to take anything from Melee, amazing game in its own right, but it seems its main draws over the sequel are mostly just that it's much less balanced and much more easy to cheat in.

Not to take anything from Melee, amazing game in its own right, but it seems its main draws over the sequel are mostly just that it's much less balanced and much more easy to cheat in. It's not cheating as it was intentionally put in for the most part. If you're not involved in the scene it's understandable why you would think that way about brawl. Basically all the little tech things that you can do in melee is why it's viewed as the more competitive game. Those little slight things you can do add enough to the game that professionals are still switching up play styles and evolving the meta-game over a decade after its release. Brawl stripped away a lot of those little things as Nintendo wanted to appeal to casual gamers as opposed to the hardcore fanbase. That's why a lot of pro melee players hated brawl because they viewed it as a step back. They were more excited than anyone else to play brawl but once it came out and was less technical overall than melee they felt abandoned as they viewed themselves as the biggest smash fans and took it as Nintendo slighting them. tl/dr: For the casual gamer Brawl may be the better game overall but for pro Melee players it was a step back and a disappointment due to the lack of extremely in-depth gameplay. I personally prefer Melee for these reasons but Brawl is great to play as well, just not as interesting to watch professionally imho

Honestly, I don't really care what Smash Brothers adds and takes out, that it's not actually a fighting game or anything like that, all I care about is that it's fun to play.
Just my two cents.

Meta Knight.

I don't really give a damn about the "Is it a fighting game?" argument. Personally, I find competitive Smash to be pretty boring because it takes away the charm of the game from me(the complete and utter chaos). But as to whether it deserves its spot or not...I don't...care? I mean, it's not really gonna affect me or anything, it's just something I'm not gonna watch. Plus people are having fun and it getting in resulted in a bunch of money to cancer research so...awesome!
Plus I do support its inclusion if only because it opens up a precedent for a WWE game to be one day part of the event. I mean, just imagine it. Livestream of WWE '13 with some overly excited commentator. "OH MY GOD HE'S GONNA GET THE HOT TAG, BAW GOD HE'S--WAIT NO THE GAME GLITCHED OUT AND DIDN'T RECOGNIZE THE TAG!" It would be doubly amazing because there would be actual prizes on the line. It would be the most absurd thing possible.

Honestly,i thinkt here is three things stopping a WWE Game 1-It is considered kiiind aof a sports game 2- The game is designed to have stronger characters in purpose(instead of a balance) 3-you can't pick 2 of the same
