I'm watching a retsupurae video on The Nostalgia Critic's "let's play" of Bart's Nightmare and it got me wondering: What are your thoughts on Doug Walker in general? I think Ask That Guy is kinda funny sometimes but I gotta be honest, I'm not really into a lot of his stuff.

I like his countdowns and his commentaries (His and Jesu's commentary on Digimon is amazing IMO), overall he's a good guy but I can't get into anything non NC

He can be funny when he's not in "strech one or two jokes out to a 20 minute video" mode. Unfortunately, he's like that a lot.
I actually prefer his more serious stuff as he's cool to listen to and has some great insight.

Sure he's still good as a comedic critic, but he's better as a traditional critic.

I love him as a straightforward critic that peppers in humor throughout. His over-the-top reaction bits only seem to work if he's reviewing something widely considered to be epically bad, like Garbage Pail Kids or The Room.
Sometimes he'll tackle something that might be mediocre or boring, but just doesn't have much to rip apart (Quest For Camelot, Blank Check). That's where his gags'll get hit or miss because you can tell he's fishing for some sort of joke even though it might not be there.

I've never really enjoyed his video reviews. The few times I've tried to watch them I get bored so fast. I don't get the appeal at all.

always been a fan of the NC, even during the later days when he started doing crossovers every week. that said I actually prefer his out-of-character stuff. guy has a lot of insight that gets lost when he has to be "in character".

I think Doug is pretty talented, which is why the "ONLY NC IS GOOD AND EVERYTHING ELSE SUCKS SO BAD" crowd is one I'll never understand.

I actually prefer his more serious stuff as he's cool to listen to and has some great insight. This is exactly how I feel. I don't hate NC, but I prefer when he's just "normal".

He can be interesting and seems like a great guy to work with, but he has a tendency to stretch out material. He should learn that it is okay to release a 5-10 minute episode if 20+ is not feasible. Filler is not something he is good at.

I'm a fan of NC, but even those are kind of hit and miss. Some are amazing, laugh out loud funny (Milk Money) and some are just dumb gun jokes.

I only like his work as the Nostalgia Critic. And I prefer his reviews of things that I'm actually nostalgic for (must be 1997 or before) and I hate it when he has a guest reviewer. It's like Doug is the opposite of James Rolfe, I like most of his work -- not just AVGN stuff. Hell, I even enjoy a wider range of Brad "The Cinema Snob"'s work He seems really, really, really high on himself. Yeah, I have a feeling Doug thinks he's way funnier than he actually is.

He's had some great skits: Joker Rehearsing his origin story. He does great impressions, and when he's not following the AVGN model of cussing up a storm with no jokes behind them, his Nostalgia Critics are top notch.

NC is fine as long as the character isn't constantly yelling.

I like NC, there are very few episodes I haven't enjoyed. I also loved his Disneycember reviews but apart from that, I haven't been able to get into any of his work. Likewise I'm not a fan of anyone else on tgwtg.
