The helicopter stage is brilliant.

Fantastic game. One o f my faves. I always loved the Boss guy that was a total knock-off of Arnold Schwarzenegger and that dude that looked like Vader was cool, though pretty easy to beat. There was also those henchmen who I thought looked a lot like Beavis and Butthead. I remember always being a bit creeped out by the evil mansion stage. My favorite music was definitely that cool music they used when you were fighting on the tops of the buildings in stage two.

I could never figure out how to get past the mansion stage and its disappearing platforms.

I loved playing that game on co-op with my Brother, as already mentioned the helicopter stage was a highlight.
Then many years later we played Double Dragon Neon which pays homage to Double Dragon 2 pretty heavily including a new version of the aforementioned helicopter level, they even use the NES sprites on the map screen.

That's because Neon rocks. Yeah it does! High five me Bro! Bro Dozer! By the way, the arranged soundtrack is worth a listen as well. Take this, for example:

My favorite music was definitely that cool music they used when you were fighting on the tops of the buildings in stage two. As mentioned in the article, this seems like it was inspired by Easy Lover

That's because Neon rocks. Yeah it does! High five me Bro! If I may, I'd like to join in on that high five! BTW, Skullmageddon is the most entertaining villain I've fought in a very long time!

My favorite Double Dragon game! I downloaded it for the Wii Virtual Console in December, and I still love it! The gameplay is so fun (love the tornado kick and the monster knee of death) and the music is awesome! This is the only game that has made my brother (a master gamer) throw a cartridge in a fit of rage! Here is my favorite song in the game: youtu.be/ZnS0mCFebk0

Just a hint to you guys who are only now playing the game, or played the game back in the day but were never any good at it: The Hyper Knee is your best friend! It's the most powerful move in the game (able to kill most minor enemies in one hit...far better than the tornado kick), it acts as a jump to help with platforms (or to knock out guys standing on platforms and in the way!), and is just all around awesome. I highly advise anyone wanting to get good at Double Dragon II: The Revenge to become a master of the Hyper Knee. I promise, you'll go far with it!

One thing I know about this game is that it has a happier ending compared to the arcade version. But the hyper knee is always tricky, I always end up messing that move up when you have to press like three buttons at the same time.
