I can't remember the last time I really enjoyed an R rated comedy.

I haven't really enjoyed a comedy movie in a while. It saddens me.

Can't think of the last horror movie that I wasn't indifferent to.

Haven't enjoyed a comedy anywhere near as much since Tropic Thunder and Black Dynamite.

I'll agree with live action comedy for movies. Granted, the genre has been really lousy for as long as I can remember as far as quantity goes. But you'd at least get one or two really funny, well-written movies per year to stick out from the rest of the crap.

I also haven't enjoyed a comedy in a long time. Too bad there aren't any film makers as good as John Hughes anymore. Hell, I'd even settle for someone as good as mid-late 1990's Kevin Smith.
Everything seemed to start going downhill when Judd Apatow came out with 40 Year Old Virgin, and comedies seemed to become more about "shocking" and/or grossing people out more than telling good stories.

I can't think of a single sitcom worth a damn since Arrested Development. Not one.

Well I'm joining the majority and saying comedy. I will only say the big studio Hollywood comedies are the ones floundering with some exceptions. But lately the best comedies are coming from the small studios and overseas.

Comedies, but only TV ones. I've enjoyed some comedy films. I mean just last year there was 21 Jump Street and The Avengers(oh come on, the bulk of the dialogue in this film was puns, word play, and snarky quips. If you spend the majority of a film laughing it is a comedy in my books, and I spent the majority of The Avengers laughing).

I'd blame American Pie more for the grossout comedy craze than Apatow.

I'm kind of the opposite from the OP. Quite frankly life has kind of sucked lately so I find it tough to watch any movies that aren't comedies. It's getting kind of tough lately because I think I've seen all the ones that appeal to me. So I've been having to settle for dramadies like "Fat Kid Rules the World" and "Terri" which aren't nearly as fun.

Horror films. I honestly will say I haven't seen one I liked since TCM 2005. Its all formulatic. That' why I'm skeptical on The Evil Dead remake.

You've gotta look for them, but are still a few good horror movies out.
The problem is that the "found footage" subgenre is the current in-thing, and they more often than not are terrible.

- Superhero genre
- "Found footage"
- Any sort of remake.
- Zombie movies/zombie anything. I love some zombie movies (Night/Dawn/Day of the Dead, Return of the Living Dead, etc.) but I am sick to death of zombies right now. It has been absolutely ran into the ground and Walking Dead played a huge part in getting it there.
