The Best Buy I frequent (usually as an Amazon showroom) has re-arranged their movie section.
Now, instead of blu rays on one side, and DVD's on the other, everything is arranged alphabetically with blu-rays and DVD's, and even boxed sets, intermingled.
This has created much more seething rage in me than it probably should. I even voiced my displeasure to one of the blue shirts, who said he completely agreed but that decision was made up the chain somewhere.

I don't mind this way, actually. Better to look in 1 place for something on both formats than to look in 2 different areas which would easily & naturally open up more disorganization and confusion.

It also now takes twice as long to browse through what I want to look at, as I have no use for DVDs.

I honestly don't know what I'd do without them.

Ugh, man I miss the old best buy. When they had a huggggggggggggggggge dvd section and loads of titles. That where I bought the Beyond and it was like discovering a hidden treasure.

Actually, I think I would like that. Not every movie I want to pick up I would want to pay the Blu-ray price for, and it would be nice if the DVD version was there for me to compare the price.

This also probably has to do with the majority of blue rays that are coming out now coming with a DVD copy.

Yeah, the Best Buy down the road from me has been like this for a few months now... I can't stand it. Especially, looking through their stuff and seeing something that they have on DVD that also exists in a better, more appealing, and often (nowadays) cheaper Blu Ray. Case in point, they have the DVD for Evil Dead, the newer Blu Ray for Evil Dead 2, and both Blu Ray and DVD for Army of Darkness... the DVD of Evil Dead is $20, and if they had the Blu Ray for Evil Dead, it would be $10 (the list price on the website)... this type of thing really annoys me, and it occurs in other instances, too.

I honestly don't know what I'd do without them. That's what I do, too. I like having DVDs in cases, but hundreds of cases can quickly eat up a lot of room. I just threw out the cases and saved all of the artwork and inserts. Any sets in special packaging (season sets, Disney Treasures, etc.) are still in their original cases, though.

I hate it. It takes me twice as long to find what I'm looking for because I'm usually just looking for Blu-Rays at Best Buy. If I'm gonna buy something on DVD, it's because it's not on Blu-Ray.
Also, I noticed that they split up the Criterion titles as well. They used to be all on one shelf, now they're scattered out alphabetically like the rest. Not that I can afford a Criterion Blu-Ray, but still, that's kinda annoying.

I do agree with the OP though, that Best Buy is essentially just an Amazon showroom for me at this point.
I go in there less and less thanks to overly pushy DirecTV salesmen who won't leave me alone no matter what.

Finding imported stuff too, now it's Like Wal Mart. It's like the general public have blinders on and don't give a s*** about a movie unless it's on tv all the time already and then they buy it But, at this rate, it won't survive a few more years anyway

My experience with Best Buy is that they have a bigger selection of movies, but higher prices than big chain stores like Wal-Mart and Target. I find that Amazon Prime is really the best way to buy Blu-rays. Of course I qualify for Amazon prime and wouldn't pay for it if I had to.
