Nickelodeon today showed a mini marathon of Rugrats, and yes it was the Dil seasons, desptie that I thought some of the jokes were funny.
People give My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic credit for realising parents watch these shows with their kids, give them something to entertain, I think Rugrats got that. Though really it was mostly the adult characters and Angelica sometimes that delievered those jokes that the parents will get that might be over the heads of the children.
I thought the show is underrated when it comes to that, and ahead of its time.
Rocko's Modern Life another show that was funny on all levels, but that has a adult following, so it is rated just right.

rugrats is like two different shows when you break it up. from 1991-95 it was really witty and before its time, In 97 when it came back from a long hiatus (this was still before Dil) you can see the changes. The kids, even Angelica got progessively dumber, and it really wasn't all that funny. Still watchable, until Kimmi came along. She herself wasn't bad, but the show went to shit

The early years was a great mix of adult and kids humor. Watching it lately, I'm surprised at the amount of adult references throughout, such as mentions of Saddam Hussein & Dennis Hopper to Daleks in the background {Spoiler}

It was way too overpushed. Got tired of it really quick.

Everything prior to the movies and Dil's arrival (who wouldn't become tolerable until All Grown Up- yes, I'm one of its three fans) is pretty clever at the very least.

I agree, it sucked when it came back after its hiatus. The early years were great.

Random dirty jokes from Rugrats: Tommy gets his teddy bear taken away and starts complaining about how life as a baby is terrible, ending with the line "I've gotten my temperature taken more times than I want to remember!" Tommy convinces Phil and Lil to get naked with him, then at one point is staring at Lil and says "Um Lil, can I ask you a question..." {Spoiler}Things in his butt and Lil not having a penis

I remember thinking that it wasn't really that good anymore, but I always chalked it up to me just growing out of that era in my life. Turns out, they really did screw with things internally that affected the show in a negative way. It's most noticeable whenever they mix up seasons on the 90s Are All That block. There's on episode where Angelica's entire personality and voice were just completely off. I have NO idea what that was about - it was corrected in later episodes. I used to watch the first three seasons so much that I remember 90% of the lines from each episode. That's how much they showed it during the hiatus, and that's how good the show was - it was worth rewatching over and over.

I'm glad there are other people who agree that Rugrats was basically two different shows, one that was amazing, and one that sucked out loud.

If you listen closely, you'll actually hear that Angelica is watching a war movie and GETTING A KICK OUT OF IT! That just shows how sick that little girl was.
Anyway, when it was brought back in 1997, it was still good in my opinion. I liked the car dealership episode, as well as the episode when Angelica ordered food from a restaurant using some voice changer toy Stu invented that made her sound like her mom.

I enjoyed it until after the 2nd movie. The early Kimmi episodes weren't bad, but then things got WAY too dumb
As for All Grown Up, there were episodes I liked, but I never really got into it that much

I don't know about that, she is a kid, you mean tell me when you were a kid you didn't watch violent movies you are not suppose to watch and get a kick of it. That is normal, think like a kid.

Damn straight. But seriously, did this episode come out before or after the Simpsons episode that debuted Disco Stu?

Was there ever an explanation on why Netflix took off seasons 1-3 from their Instant service ?
