I work with kids and the second grade boys had a blast today wrestling in the soft snow, they even tried to tackle me. Then it was put a stop to because it's not allowed. It's a rule I'll enforce, but seriously, when did this become wrong? Maybe I'm just to nostalgic about my own childhood.

1. The idea that children must be saved from themselves. 2. When they got you involved, it may have began to look like something you'd really it rather not look like.
Lawyers run the world, now. Best not to run afoul of them.

It's one of those things that I don't like about everything being so correct nowadays. I can't argue with the fact so much stuff can be traumatic to kids and if we can avoid it we should, etc. Same with bullying. I can't say that what they are doing is wrong at all; I support it even. It's great that they are worried about kids.
But on a personal level, I'd have hated if my childhood was like that. Guess that's how people naturally react to stuff being different from what they experienced though.

Kids get hurt - parents sue. It's not that it's wrong, but just whatever company/school/etc you work for doesn't want to be liable for something.
It's the same reason you'll see abandoned lots fenced off and under lock and key. They don't want vagrants or whomever wandering in there doing something stupid and then suing the property owner.

I did so much stupidly awesome stuff when I was a kid, I feel bad for kids these days, the vast majority of them just sit in a protective bubble using the internet and/or watching tv.

In addition to what has already been said teaching has become increasingly female dominated profession, it always seemed to me that female teachers couldn't tell the difference between play-fighting and real conflict and now more of them make the rules. Male teachers were more likely to be able to monitor what was going on and step in if needed which I think was generally more beneficial to everybody but could sometimes go too far.
Mix that with legal issues, (completely justified) bullying policies being over-zealously enforced and the growing stupid trend of treating boys and girls the same (twisted from being equals) result in situations like the OP.

when the news started reporting stories about kids getting hurt from halfway across the country and made it feel like "it could happen to YOUR KIDS TOO, what kind of parent are YOU to allow ANYTHING to happen to your precious little snowflakes?"

We couldn't play tackle football. We had to play touch football though.
We did wrestle when we were kids though. I remember we set up a ring that was a bunch of big snowballs and we had royal rumble matches.

Boys are not allowed to be boys anymore. Most likely they will never be men either.

We have more and more male teachers over here, and the entire reasoning about women not knowing play fighting is kind of insulting. I work with teachers all the time, any fighting is no tolerance in my school district all teachers put an end to anything that looks like fighting.
