Evan Bourne’s recovery for the Lisfranc midfoot fracture he suffered last March is going slower than expected. Both he and WWE are starting to get frustrated.

As has been well-documented, Bourne was on “very thin” ice prior to the injury as he had back-to-back Wellness Policy failures for testing positive for synthetic marijuana. In fact, we’re told from a high-ranking source he tested positive for another banned substance in addition to the synthetic marijuana.

Prior to the Wellness issues and injury, Bourne was set to be one of the centerpieces of a new show the company is planning to develop around cruiserweights. Given his slower recovery, he’s nervous he won’t be part of it at all. Even worse, we’re told from people close to Bourne he’s concerned about the stability of his job when he is able to return.

Didn't he also get voluntary help for his substance abuse problems? I think that would get him a bit of positive support.

Don't fire him.

I mean, I understand Bourne screwed up. And yes, he doesn't deserve a push. I would just make him "exclusive" to SmackDown and have him as an enhancement guy. Keep him as a jobber so that the guys with bigger upsides don't have to be jobbed out anymore. If Evan Bourne is jobbing, Justin Gabriel doesn't have to.

Well since they signed PAC, there's not really anything Bourne can offer that he can't.

Eric Bischoff had no problem firing people while they were injured. Of course they didn't have two wellness violations against them either. That being said I think he will still be around once he is healthy.

There's no way that cruiserweight show happens. That was just something for the alleged Network, which is pretty much not happening if I've got my newz right.

Well I'm just saying that right now Bourne isn't as special to them, so his internal value has probably dropped quite a bit since that recent signing. They'd probably be a lot less patient with him right now.

If he's worried about the cruiser show, I wouldn't be too worried, because they're probably never going to do it. They already have 4 shows a week (if you count Superstars as a show).

Supposedly WWE is going to start a premium (meaning you have to pay for it) Youtube channel that would have many of the programs and features of the proposed WWE Network.

I don't know about that but two strikes is mandatory rehab or immediate termination.

I don't really see what the upside is for firing him. Evan Bourne is a good "underdog" character, a fantastic seller of moves, and the SSP is still an amazing move. With Rey winding down (it really looks to be time), why not keep Evan on the roster?

Can't we just release him already? He's been injured/suspended for almost a year. At this point, just go away. A shooting star press, no matter how pretty, isn't worth all the trouble.

What a miserable attitude to have towards the guy. Bourne has shown tremendous ability in the ring, and as an enhancement guy he'd be spectacular. There's still money to be made off of Evan Bourne.

That being said, it wouldn't surprise me if Bourne was released soon, but if he is it'll be a mutual release and he'll be rehired as soon as he's healthy.

He sounds like he's having some serious anxiety problems about this. Maybe he should find something to help him mellow out.
