If you are considering Usain Bolt, you HAVE to also consider Michael Phelps. The dude is the most decorated Olympian in history, and his quest to achieve this status was one of the major selling points/stories of the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. But Michael Phelps is not "The Fastest Man on Earth". I'm not saying that Phelps isn't deserving of his accolades because he most certainly is but the biggest attraction of every Olympic Games is the 100m final. That and Bolt isn't exactly the shy and retiring type.

I couldn't tell you who Michael Phelps is, what his sport is, nor what country he represents without consulting Wikipedia first. Until this thread I had never heard of the man, and that counts him out of this thread for me.

Maybe it's the NYer in me, but I think Derek Jeter has to be up there in the most famous athletes category. LeBron James as well.
