My pick for best picture would be Django Unchained. It's easily the most fun and exciting of the Best Pic nominees. The one I would watch the most.

Django shouldn't even be nominated. I enjoyed it and while it was a well made movie, I wouldn't call it phenomenal, and it sits pretty low on the Tarantino totem pole for me.
I pick Argo, then Lincoln, then Silver Linings Playbook (in the dream that we got a "It Happened One Night" Oscars ceremony).
But Argo was probably the best movie I saw all year with Lincoln being a close second.

Of the nominees, I saw four: Argo, Lincoln, Les Miserables & Silver Linings Playbook
My personal fave was Lincoln but I have absolutely no problem with Argo winning as it's my very close second (and Affleck deserves something, dammit!)

Dark Knight Rises IMO, but of those I still have to see Argo, Zero Dark Thirty, Life of Pi and Les Miserables

I would like Argo to win but I'll take any of them but Django, ZDT, and Les Mis.

Argo. And Ben Affleck should just accept it like a Best Director award.

Yeah, the problem with Les Mis is well...it's too much of a musical. Since it was brought up, I'm going to explain why it bothered me in a lot of ways.
I saw it several weeks ago, and I love movie musicals, but I knew I was in trouble when the music...never....stopped.....ever.
I understand that they're trying to give you that Broadway feel, but you know what? At the end of the day, it's still a movie, and you have to make the right decision, so just having a little melody go with your lines in order to never allow the song to stop is a very bad decision. Also getting Russell Crowe to sing was a bad decision, now I know why South Park ripped on him so bad...he was pretty awful. In fact, there's a couple early Crowe scenes with Jackman (who did a good job) where they're singing in the street and you can tell that Crowe completely threw Jackman off his tone, and it doesn't match the accompaniment (which was likely added later). Again going back to the music NEVER stopping, I think this was a prime example of why Hollywood needs to stop f***ing doing this. The 1935 version has a much deeper human feeling because we see the actors ACT out what they're feeling, as opposed to singing about it. One of the early scenes with the Bishop is completely and totally ruined because of song. In the 1935 version, his words have a deep impact on Jean and you can see it in his face almost immediately. It's amazing how singing your lines can take all that effort of caring away.
And look, I love musicals, but when they're done in the right way; West Side Story, Singin' in the Rain, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers are all great and don't overexpose the characters by never allowing the audience to think. That's the big problem with singing all the time, there's nothing for the audience to get involved in because we're presented with the solutions before we're able to comprehend. It was an okay movie, I'm conflicted on the ending because while I enjoyed what happened, I was pissed to see where Jean "ended up" because it didn't seem like the right way to go. But whatever...it better not win Best Picture since it was just "okay".

I won't vote, since I haven't seen all the films on that list. But of the movies I've seen this year, I liked Les Miz far and away the most, yes, even though they sing all the time (it was more opera than musical in that way). Admittedly, most of the movies I saw were super hero movies, and only one really impressed me (Avengers).

Argo or Django Unchained. Ben Affleck should win best director and it's a joke he isn't nominated.

What SHOULD win is Zero Dark Thirty, but with Kathryn Bigelow not even nominated for Best Director, my guess is Lincoln takes it.

I've seen them all and my gut is going with Argo. That's not a prediction. That's what I thought was the best of the nominees. Zero Dark Thirty and Django Unchained would be the major contenders in how I judged them.

Lincoln is most deserving. Argo was missing something, but good. Django was a half assed Inglorious without the plot, but good acting and scenes. Zero is too controversial. And Les Mis was f***ing awful.

I've only seen Argo, Django Unchained, Silver Linings Playbook, and Zero Dark Thirty
How I would rank them from best to worst is:
1. Django Unchained 2. Zero Dark Thirty 3. Silver Linings Playbook 4. Argo
They are all really great films and I wouldn't mind if any of those 4 won.

Argo easy. It's the biggest actual triumph of cinema in the lot. The fact that so much legit tension was built out of a real life story that we all know how it ended is pretty incredible. Not a flaw in the acting, directing, pacing, etc.
Lincoln just had incredible acting, and that's really it. Les Mis has a cool look to it and an innovating filmmaking style, but that's really is.
Silver Linings Playbook, Life of Pi, Zero Dark Thirty, Django and the rest were great, but Argo's the only one that feels like a legit feat of cinema and deserving of best picture.

I'm still pissed Flight wasn't nominated, but of that group I think Lincoln will win, simply because it hits all the right notes with the Academy. It's a period piece and it focuses on a famous historical figure.
