So I'm doing a project about determinism, the idea that the future is entirely controlled by actions in the past. I have to write a 3-4 page review of any movie that shows evidence that life is pre-determined. The easy choose would be to pick any of the Final Destination movies, but I want to make a real effort on this one.
My professor also brought up Donnie Darko and Deja Vu as other examples. Anyone else have good examples of movies that deal with determinism?

You could explore this with Looper or The Terminator.

There's The Butterfly Effect.
It's not a very good film though.

I suppose you could also analyze The Deer Hunter centering on the drop of wine.

12 Monkeys would probably be pretty decent.

Primer, while incredibly confusing, would give a lot to talk about.

I suppose you could also analyze The Deer Hunter centering on the drop of wine. I'd consider it a determination of actually sitting through that train wreck of a movie again. Slumdog Millionaire maybe. Maybe him finding the girl, but not so much the game show aspect, that was pure luck. And the fact that the questions came in the order of his life in a linear fashion was pretty funny. I'd go with The Prestige. Both guys are just determined to one up one another and learn each others' trick, to the point of obsession and crime.

Meet the Robinsons.
There are tons of movies that concern time travel, almost all of which put emphasis on the difference choices can make.

12 Monkeys would probably be pretty decent. As well as it's inspiration, La Jette.
