I just thought they did a lot of things right with this angle, such as bringing back the Classic Intercontinental Championship, the match at WrestleMania with Mysterio, and if I recall, he beat then-World Champion Randy Orton in the main event of SmackDown! Granted a lot of it was cartoony, like handing out the bags and "WOULD YOU LIKE A RECEIPT SIR? FOR YOU PAPER BAG?", but overall I thought it was a great storyline.
What did you guys think about it?

The gimmick was good.
I just hated how they made the IC Title look bad by booking him into a corner against Randy Orton.

I always wanted them to make a shirt from it somehow, something like the Nexus shirt with all the newspaper headlines making up the logo. Considering the minitron, it would've worked just fine.

Cody is such a great character actor. I don't understand why they're stripping him of his awesomeness and making him a generic heel who has a mustache that's more over than he is. It gave me my favorite version of Cody's theme song and also a cool minitron I always thought Cody should've kept the theme song and the psychopathic tendencies even after losing the mask.

I will always love the theme. As goofy as it was starting to change to towards the end, he played it so straight.

I legit thought they were getting ready to pull the trigger on Cody as WHC.

The minitron he had during this time, featuring newspaper headlines talking about his newfound "ugliness", was downright awesome.

Cody has blasted through three or four brilliant gimmicks for a year or so at a time, all of them the kind of thing you could ride for a lot longer.

Maybe I should rename this the All-Purpose Cody Rhodes Gimmick Thread, because "Dashing" Cody Rhodes was one of my favorite things ever.

Dashing was great, masked was great, whatever his most recent gimmick was was great, and the moustache is great if you can count it as a gimmick in its own right. The guy is just shitting out great gimmicks.

Wrestlemania against Rey, his entrance made him look like a freakin' star. The promo packages he had at the time made him look like a freakin' star. He was cutting killer promos and he was having some of the best matches of his career.
His in-ring hasn't dipped at all, though with all the layers of his character stripped away his mic work has tended to yo-yo a little because of it. Similarly, he doesn't look quite like a star anymore when he walks out thanks to them reducing his gimmick to pretty much nothing.

You could tell Cody was having a blast with his brain child.
The only thing I didn't like about it wasn't anything to do with Cody; it was to do with Michael Cole and Booker T.
'hey Booker! we got a bag for you Booker! hey Booker! you got a bag Booker! Booker! Booker! Booker!' 'I dun know what these paper bags are fo'

It's like WWE decides the character was TOO good and forced Cody to become another generic midcarder

Agree with others that Grotesque Cody Rhodes produced his best theme by far. Shoulda kept it, in fact.
