Rachel from Glee can be hypocritical, self-righteous, and obnoxious. Can be?

Why do people not like Lana Lang? I'm rewatching Smallville right now, and I find her a hell of a lot more likeable than Lois Lane during the earlier seasons. Because she's never called on her shit, and everything she does is perfect. The writers made her the ultimate Mary Sue where she could do no wrong. She steals $10 million? That's okay. She kidnaps someone? Perfectly fine. How many times did she get pissed at Clark for not telling her everything? She ripped him for saving her and Chloe from Johnathan Taylor Thomas' character, because he should have stayed out of it, because it was her mistake to make. She praised the dude in "Magnetic" for being honest with her. She grouped Clark with Lionel Luthor, a known murderer. Everything was about Zod damn secrets and lies. The story of the origins Clark Kent and Lex Luthor, took a backseat to Lana Lang. Clark settled for Lois, because he couldn't be with Lana.

Like I said, I'm still in the earlier seasons, so I haven't gotten to that part yet, and I don't remember much of the details from the first time I watched it. I guess I'll look out for it, and see if I see Lana in a different light this time around.

The story of the origins Clark Kent and Lex Luthor, took a backseat to Lana Lang. Clark settled for Lois, because he couldn't be with Lana. Lana is not unlikeable. Alot of Lanas later choices can all be faulted back to clark because he was always dancing around the damn fact that all he had to do was be honest with her but did he? NO he strung her along for years all while intervening in her life at every moment driving her to the mad house or in easier terms into the arms of his nemesis. Hell it is proven in the 100th episode that if clark is honest with her she was accepting of who he is etc but what did he do turn back time and go back to playing the same damn cat and mouse tactics of will he or wont he. It was not so much Lana as it was Clark and his stupid trolling of stringing lana along for several years. And she was infact called on her shit LOTS of times by the likes of chloe , lex and by clark himself most notably in the episode siren.

Diane Chambers from Cheers. What Sam saw in her I have no idea. I love the episode of Frasier where she writes a play that's basically her extremely skewed version of the events of Cheers and Frasier calls her out for the pompous windbag she is.

Debra Barone on Everybody Loves Raymond. How anyone could like her shrew of a character is beyond me.

All of the playable characters from FFXIII except the guy with chocobo living in his afro and Vanille
Connor from Angel was an utter prick
Anakin Skywalker
Dawn from Buffy in series 6 and 7. It seemed like the writers had no idea what to do with her after 'the key' arc had finished.

Given the hatred that the character's gotten in other areas of the Internet, and given the popularity of How I Met Your Mother on this board, I'm honestly surprised that this thread's made it three pages and no one's mentioned Ted Mosby yet.

Elliot Reid A likable character in season 1-3 but after that she became an Obnoxious, Self-righteousness & Smug bitch, I hated too how characters had to pander to her.
While I admit the other 2 were annoying (Turk remained cool to me) Elliot just pissed me off more.
Rose Tyler/Amy pond/River Song & Donna Noble
Nothing but annoying Mary Sues, Martha was ok and was pretty damn likable but she was cast aside for a character that wasn't even there.
In fact I'm just off Doctor Who right now as I feel he's a supporting character in his own show.

Rick Grimes is really unlikeable to me. "Hey look, a hitchhiker needs our help. Eh, f*** him, I'll just loot his dead body later." I can see this argument from both sides to be fair. Agreed it was a pretty douchebag move to completely ignore him. But on the other hand with the whole Governer issue atm, It's very difficult to know who you can or can't trust, He could have been a murderer for all they know. Tough call to make.

In fact I'm just off Doctor Who right now as I feel he's a supporting character in his own show. I actually liked Donna and thought she developed into a pretty interesting character. I liked the fact that she was the only female companion on the new series to not have any kind of romantic feelings for the Doctor yet they still acted like an old married couple. It gave their relationship a very classic Doctor Who feel. Rose is interesting. The thing is, when she was on the show, for the most part anyways, she was a genuinely interesting, fun and likeable character. It's when Billie Piper left the show yet Rose still seemed to be the single guiding force behind every one of the Doctor's actions for the next season and a half that I wanted to go back in time and strangle her. I know it was a different time and a different show back then, but the first Doctor had an easier time getting over his own grand daughter.

As great as Robert Downey Jr. is as Iron Man, Tony Stark is kind of a materialistic, shallow prick. I think it's just built into the movie version of the character. He is likable in the sense that he's charming and has loads of charisma and a good sense of humor, but he's also a self-involved douche bag who I was rooting against in Iron Man 2.
